I can get the F6 technique to work in NVDA, but not under JAWS 18.
I also know of no keyboard sequence that can be used to access these "security notification" pop-ups

Brian, since my 2 cents may not be what you're looking for, I do think
it's the way to go:
the program that is being used must have a keystroke to enable editing
mode. for example, when using Word,

The xlsx extension is used when an Excel file is created with Office 2007 or later. So 365 should work. The file is really not that big so it should open quickly. My best guess is that

.xlsx is Excel, but for versions 2007 and upward. Should work just fine
unless you have an old version.
