Denise,
Usually it's because some other high-demand processing is going on in the background, or another audio source is also trying to use the resources. First try shutting down any background apps

Is anyone else experiencing JAWS 2018 sounding crackly & fuzzy? If so what did you do to fix it?

Re: Disabling lenovo hotkeys and jaws
On some Lenovo PC's you can press FN+Escape to switch between Lenovo hot keys and normal F key function. You only have to do it once because it'll keep the setting even you reboot.

Nope, doesn't sound right. If the Function keys are disabled, they will be disabled all at once.

Re: jfw and firefox acting very sluggish
Hi, Jed. Here is Firefox 52.0. I uploaded it to Sendspace for you and for anyone else looking for an older, stable release of Firefox.
You've got a file called Firefox Setup 52.0.exe, (43.3 MB)

Re: KVM switches and braille displays
It should work. I have my Focus Blue display connected to a switch.
Sometimes, you will need to restart JAWS when you switch, but not always, it
seems.

Re: KVM switches and braille displays
That might work, but it depends entirely on the capabilities of your KVM switch. If it can handle a second USB device then maybe. Note that some KVM switches also can handle audio and have 3.5mm input
