Unless they changed something in regard to the default controls on the Home Ribbon under M365, I honestly can't say what's going wrong, particularly since Braille input is being used.

I’d done as you suggest, Brian, but when I tinkered, my problem was size of font. I changed that to 10 and now all is back to normal! Whew! Many thanks.

You do not explicitly state that you have all your text selected, but you must do that first if you're trying to change the font face for text that's already written.

If you change font through the Word dialog with either control-f or control-d, tabbing will take you to a default button.

I haven’t been following this thread, but I just tested Brian’s navigation suggestion. He omitted a comma between the two rr’s. The following works for me with Outlook 2016:
