Re: Jaws Screen Reader cost?.

I have seen a JAWS to NVDA list of keyboard shortcuts on the web, not sure if it was put out by NVDA or someone else.

I try not to get caught up in the whole cost thing. I find too many people, are willing to spend $10 a day or $20 a week at Starbucks, but don't want to spend that money on jaws.

If NVDA maintainers really cared about helping the Blind, then they would include a Jaws layout for those who want it.
This is not unheard of, Microsoft Word used to have a WordPerfect mode,

If you can't afford JAWS, you can still use it in 40 min mode. Or get NVDA, it is Free and is a great screen reader and there are tutorials to help you migrate from JAWS to NVDA.

Hi Chris,
Had you read my original message, you would have seen that I was talking about their summer sale and not their regular pricing.
In that sale, they discount both SMAs and new

Screen readers existed prior to Windows, Jaws being one of them.
Some of those pre-windows products were very smart. At one time, we had more product choice than we do now.

Is that a very deep grief? If you'd like, I have for you five original DECtalk boxes, five full-sized DEC ISA boards, and two DECtalk express. Glad to part with any of them.

Oh yes, there were several versions of the VERT software and hardware. I have a few if anyone would like one. Also, in that era, was the ARTIC screen reader. Also have a few of those.

I still grieve over the loss of the Dec-Talk hardware synthesizer. Which I still believe to be the finest speech synthesizer. I think it even beats these modern human sounding synthesizers extent.
