In the Address Book options, make sure the "Start with Contacts folder" radio button is selected. Address Book options are in the Tools menu.

I don't know, Cristóbal. When I open my addressbook and begin to do a search, the name only check box is always what is selected by default. Have you tried pressing the ENTER key on the name only

Since they are completely separate from e-mail messages, yes, there is.
I do not know where/when you are attempting to do this import, which clouds the issue. Also, where you're importing them

That would be correct. While a contact will be included in the recently used autocomplete list if you've recently used them (or even not so recently) there is no automatic creation of a Contact

There is a place in Outlook Options, Mail, to have it use the auto complete, or not.
If you press control+3 and are not finding your contacts there, I'd call Microsoft Accessibility and get their help
