I do believe adds get removed but I do not recall what happens with graphics. However, I think you will be pleased just how well pages are rendered.

When I am downloading from microsoft edge I get an alert of the minutes that are left in the download. The problem the alert is announce verbally and interrupt anything I am doing on my computer. I

I am not sure about Chrome or Firefox. However, Microsoft Edge has a feature called emersive reader. You click the f9 key and you can either scroll down to the beginning of an article and read using

Ditto. It seems to be the same reader available on Firefox, as /F9 initiates the reader there.
One little foible. The reader, at least the Immersive reader on Edge, don't always read an entire
