And, to add to that, it need not be Office 365. The ability to open PDF files within Word, where it converts them, has been around since at least Word 2013. It may even have been available in Word

Your right under the ADA is to have a screen reader if that's what you need to do your job. That screen reader need not be JAWS. And I expect that as time progresses, and more employers accept NVDA

This entire discussion continues to convince me, with perhaps some exceptions, that the best way to deal with PDFs, assuming you have Microsoft 365 on your system, is to set them up to open in Word.

Steve, is there a way to read pdfs in chrome para-wise smoothly? Line by line and say all are laborious. It divides paras very unnaturally. Not smooth at all.

Yes, it also misses I's and L's if the font is a bit weird. I prefer Chrome for reading.

insert+g opens the graphics labeler, but jaws tells me that i am not on a
graphic with the jaws cursor.
