provides an easy way to get to the thesaurus, which has been a pain
under 2007.

Anne,
Thanks for reminding me of that method. I knew there was a keyboard method
but couldn't remember it or find it.

Use the applications menu. But if you just start typing what you wish for, Word does a good job of reading your mind.

I think, maybe, you can backspace out the numbers. Maybe.
I don't do that beautiful sophisticated stuff, though.

Ann:
What happens if you want block paragraphs under a heading, possibly separated by carriage returns, and you don't want those paragraphs to be numbered?

Re: Creating an Outline in Word
Hi Ann,
Will I need to have lists turned on or how can I get it to show the capital letters? I've been playing with the numbered lists, but it's not exactly what in the order that I want. Thanks.

Rob,
I would be very careful in editing your built-in styles unless you really
understand how to manipulate styles and templates.
Are you wanting to create an outline with a hierarchy such as I 1.

Hi Ed,
First of all, thanks for the information. I have tried playing with the styles list and when I choose one, I don't seem to be getting subordinate headings. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
