Which is precisely the opposite of what's happened with the transition to Chromium-based Edge. They've gone from a "definitely not ready for primetime" mess of an in-house "let's reinvent the wheel"

I do not have any aversion to chromium based browsers, It is just Microsoft's latest thing about screwing up anything they do. Look at what they did to Skype.

Agree. I only remember shortcuts after a while of seeing them. I hate ribbons for the same reason that they hide everything in layers and layers.

Not really. It is a lot simpler to remember that something you use occasionally is in a certain category, then you just dig through that category. I gave up on the keyboard shortcuts thing

1, open word,
2, press insert+6 on the numbers row,
3, type spelling into the search edit,
4, down arrow you will see/hear,
detect spelling while navigating,

Once you're in the Edit field then simply press Windows Key + period (.) to bring the Emoji Panel.
Select the one that you want and hit enter and then press ESC to close the Emoji
