Hello. Insert + windows key + F4 turns off JAWS. This is useful when JAWS is not responding and is not speaking. This turns it off and you can turn it on after some seconds.

I have not tried this; however, remember that insert plus F-4 turns off JAWS. So, you may have simply turned off speech.
