Good question. I‘ve wondered this, too. In my current list, I have three programs showing as “on top”. Each of these is one I do not launch, but are auto-launched by my company or my laptop.

A lot of people don’t ever take their laptop anywhere, but if you do or even just like to bring it to different places in your house then a laptop is probably a better choice.
