also make sure your modem is turned off as soon as firefox is re installed or it will update you again.
then find and turn off firefox updates, if you can find it. grin. it is barried several menus

Your best choice is to upgrade to JAWS 2019 and Windows 10 if you can afford it.
Windows 10 will have no support from Microsoft after January 14 2020 and even you upgrade and/or install

I know of no way to add alt text to image files themselves in a way that a screen reader picks up on. That sort of alt text is a function of the thing into which the image is embedded, such as a Word
