And, in case it helps Jed, I just had a look at the screen resolution on my laptop which has the 4K Touch Screen display and noticed that scaling was set to 250% which also was the recommended

It's possibly a screen resolution issue, and I can't remember exactly where the setting is but it will be under "Display", and try lowering the resolution quite substantially.

I doubt that is a Jaws issue if it worked before, maybe something to do with the hardware on the two different laptops.
I, for example, use Roboform as a password manager. On all my desktops at work

And since in Windows and Office there are always numerous ways to skin a cat, you can always just use the keyboard shortcut for Wordcount/statistics, Control+Shift+G.
