Hi, Val. I don't use Thunderbird. You'd want to open the email you want to save. Then you want to find Save As. With Outlook, this is Function Key twelve, or F12. If this doesn't work, Open the email.

Hi, Tim. The character code for a Vertical Tab is decimal code 11. Since this is Control K, and Control K is a command in Word, you cannot enter it this way.

In Microsoft Word, you can toggle paragraph marks on and off with CTRL-SHIFT-NUMBER ROW 8. I suspect you accidentally pressed this command. Press it again and they will go away.

In the JAWS quick settings there is an item under "editing options" that says "speak lines and paragraph markers". If alt+h, then 8 doesn't do it, maybe that setting will.
