I'm not sure that is any more direct than opening it in Adobe and using the OCR keystrokes.
I knew one could do that, but I thought the person was wanting a way to do it from Adobe.

oh yes there is.
start the dictionary manager,
press control+shift+d if you want the changes to apply to all programs
you decide to use,
press tab to skip past the add button,
if the entry you want

You can already force it.
Simply find your PDF file in explorer, press the applications key and select Recognise With JAWS.

Exactly. You don't even need the message, because you know it loses focus every time you boot up.
But it is a personal choice, if you like extra babble, leave it on.

You don't need it on, if you're an experienced JAWS user, because you type, then check. If JAWS loses focus, it will speak the newly activated window usually. It never loses focus completely

Actually, if you boot up to Windows then immediately press JAWS key and T, you get Lost Focus, so I believe Dan is wrong in this. If you press any key after boot up, then focus is sometimes
