Interesting. Nothing fantastic jumps out with this release. Still nothing
that tells me it is more stable now. But, I paid for 18 so I'll continue to
update it, even though I'm using JAWS 16

latest Jaws update
Installed the Jaws update that popped up today. Install went just fine. Is there a way to know what changes were made in such updates?
Thanks from a newbee

Re: getting rid of annoying speech
I agree with Carolyn 99% on this, but there are times (a dedicated bible dictionary comes to mind) when it is appropriate to save to a particular dictionary, rather than the default. Not too many

Hi all: A resounding "yes" from yours truly for Eloquence. It knows it is a synthesizer and doesn't try to sound human. Still, for clarity, quick speech that is always intelligible, there's nothing

Stupid question, but is there a difference and can one use the older version if they sound better? Thanks again.

Re: most responsive syn
Not always, but I have found the crankiness goes away from the female voices some if you use the compact or whatever it is they call the lesser-quality voices.

Re: silencing Jaws during self-voicing programs
JAWS key, spacebar, S. This is speech off. Speech can be restored the same way. You can also create a profile for a particular app, wherein speech off is the default.

Melcom is my primary voice. I do use Ava as well. This is just a preference but, I found a lot of the female voices sound cranky like they are having a bad day. Again, that is a personal preference.

Hi, I recently had success with Kindle and JAWS 18 by going to the link below and arrowing down to the link designated for Windows and Mac. This link will take you to a utility for screen readers
