Also, coming at it from the flip side of Mr. Griffiths' observations, I have always hated auto-numbering because there are times when I want the formatting that go with it and other times when I do

I'm not sure when it came in. You've always been able to press Enter twice and the numbering would go away, but in earlier versions of Word it didn't apply the Normal style, hence the need

I can confirm Brian's listing of options is the same in Word 2016. Once you're on the Autoformat as you Type tab, you should be able to Tab or arrow through all the options.

When you get an extra number, press control + shift + N.
That applies the "Normal" style -- just like the extra ENTER.

Easiest way is to press Enter twice after the last item of the list. The first Enter creates a new numbered item, the second Enter changes that item to a standard paragraph; the number is

I installed windows10 anniversary, if I had a choice, and everything was fine for a little while. It then started slowing down; then, the internet options in the control and in the browser

Did the computer crash secondary to drive malfunction? I ask because once a hard drive begins to malfunction neither reformatting it and/or repartitioning it will cure the underlying
