I should have waited for your post. Never remembered about the Insert+Alt+S.
And if it works in Say All, then that's even better.

Browse the list for one that announces colors
It may not work in Say All, but I'm pretty sure one will work when you arrow

You probably want to turn on a proofreading scheme that will let you identify colors while you're in say-all. As I recall, there a couple of those. One lets you hear attributes and

I noticed this too. Today was the first time I really tried to select
anything. It does seem to work with .rtf files ok, but it definitely
doesn't work with .docx files.

Greetings: JAWS 13 here using XP Home and Word 7 is not announcing when text is selected.
Is anyone else experiencing this form of lying?

Hi Ann. I agree with your first point. I also find this very frustrating and annoying. I really do wish jaws wouldn't read the screen or part of the screen that was just left. It is confusing.
