Adrian, thank you for these clear-cut instructions. I have copied and pasted them in two different folders. These instructions were keepers!

After such warm words from you and Andre, I hate to admit that I neglected to say my instructions apply to Outlook 2010. I hope they work in other email applications, too.

Here's hoping from this end, too!
It may take some time, though.
Thanks for the report, David.

Good stuff. I always got confused on how many times to hit the Tab key.
Thanks for making that clear. Andre

Re: deleteing inbox
I have a different email program. However, you may be able to do the same thing as I do. You can do the control A to accept all then press the delete button which puts them in the trash folder.

Yes. Control-A then delete. If you have a large number of emails it might
take a few minutes to select all. Then pressing delete to delete might take
a few minutes as well.
Hope this helps.

Every now and then I go to deleted items and sent items to get rid of all of
them. I select them all and hit delete. They all disappear and nothing
else happens. Feel good!

Re: Major Outlook 2010 problem
Not yet, but that may be a next step here, if the other strategies that have
been suggested don't help.
I'll have to learn how to do that, but I can't imagine it would be that
difficult.
