Re: JAWS 13 don't download off that link I gave
Good thing I have slow reflexes. I hadn't started yet, and now I deleted
the thing. It won't be me getting somebody else in trouble. I can do that
for myself.

JAWS 13 don't download off that link I gave
Out of stupidity, I gave you all a link I wasn't supposed to. I thought it was already common knowledge.
Please do not, I repeat, do not download anything off there as it could get someone in

Peter, there's nothing stopping you or others with not as much money from getting Abby Finereader or some other OCR program menat for the general computer user, not specifically designed for blind

Since when does FS care about giving its customers a break? Why would FS want to charge, say, $1500 for a program that combines the best features of JAWS and Open Book into a single package, when

The OCR function in JAWS 13 is a way to get at that graphical text in programs. It isn't a document reader. It will grab small bits of text that you can actually interact with such as that flash

Yes but it would save those who don't already have it a hell of a lot of money if it's any good and there are always new assistive technology users coming along..

George,
If the new JAWS 13 feature reads graphical text on your computer screen, as it appears to do from John Martin's description of it interacting with a setup program, then it won't be competing

Re: Jaws 13 out next week
How would that be an ideal world? People already say JAWS is too bloted.
That'd just give them more reason to say so.

I wouldn't get too excited about this alleged OCR option. After all, if it were really useful, it might detract from sales of Open Book, which is the last thing FS wants to happen. In an ideal

John, I don't think the OCR function means much to many of us who have OpenBook or Kurzweil.

Re: Why do people have so many problems unsubscribing on this list?
Exactly!
My key stroke command is about as ridiculous as the hundreds of "Please unsubscribe me!" emails I've gotten from this one list.
And that Google search idea sounds like what I need! LOL It

Hi Chris,
I'm quite familiar with the quick navigation keys and use them all the time. My question was really about those desktop gadgets; I understand that they can get you weather info, sports, news

Nononono, what we definitely do not need is more hand holding!
Give people a single keystroke, and then it'll be "but my keyboard is different. where do I find this keystroke?"

Re: Research It and NFL NCAA scores
Well, what functions do we have to help us skim through web pages? I'm thinking of things like the quick keys to jump by heading,, list, etc. that might help.
The find command seems appropriate here
