Kimber, when I go to an attachment with Outlook 2010, I do one step differently. Instead of pressing alt after shift-tab, I right-arrow.

I use AIM with Jaws. The only difference between the way it works now and
the way it used to is that messages aren't read automatically, but there are
keystrokes to read them.

try Miranda IM. This is a multimessenger client that can interface with aol IM, icq, irc, msn, skype (with interface) facebook, etc.
