GW uses the Skype SDK, this was an api that was part of the official Skype client.

My Word Web shortcut is control-alt-b. control-alt-w was already in use on my system, as it surely is for many people who use Word or another word processor. I can't remember if Word Web recognized it

Open Word Web. Press alt and arrow across to Options. Arow down and you'll find the shortcut option.
