Hmm, Perhaps I misunderstood your question.
In W7 and Outlook just arrowing down through the in box will still give you that information.

I really don't want to do that when I am just arrowing through an In box full of messages to decide what I want to open or delete.

Works fine for me, with JFW 14.0.4004. It says "no region" for the web site

While on a web page when I press the ; (semi colon) I get the:

Alt + 1 reads the from, alt+2 reads the sent date, alt+3 reads the to field, alt+4 reads the "cc" field and alt+5 reads the subject line. You can't do anything with any of these but if you need to
