Hi,

I have only worked with the Focus 40 Blue, and my department at work is trying to get this for me.

However, it looks like it is currently sold out, so what other braille display could I research that will work well with JFW?

Or, is this the best one, since I believe it was made to work with Jaws?

Thanks.

Okay All,

I have this configuration on my personal Dell laptop.

I cannot seem to access the Address Book, even though I know I’ve saved some contacts.

When I do the Control Shift B command, the list view is empty.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Hi All,

Is there somewhere I can find a list of recommended setting that I can integrate into my JFW to work efficiently with Windows.

For example, am I supposed to have the virtual ribbons turned off or on?

Thanks.

There are accessibility options in adobe.

I can't remember where they are located.

The other accommodation I'd use if necessary is aIRA to make sure you get
the job done if you can't get it to work any other way.

Use the job promotion aIRA has, it is free for 30 minutes. But I think you
only have a certain amount of it you can use per month probably 150 minutes
like the small business promotion.

You can request your job, or voc rehab, or use your IRWE's if you have any
to pay for the plans.

Try the accessibility options first.

I'm not sure how well jaws OCR works with fillable forms.

Also, the nfb convention is coming up in july.

See if you can find some pdf or accessibility seminars, they Will be held
there.

Hello, I started a new job this week and they do a lot with PDF files. On my
previous job, I really had no issue with this. I used the latest version of
Jaws but there are a lot of forms that require us to fill them out. Is there
any way to reasonably do this using jars? Also, since Jaws has built in OCR,
is there even a need for me to request for cro while, as another
accommodation, at this point? Thanks.

Hello All,

I just began a new job this week, with the federal government.

I have requested the following accommodations, JFW, a braille display, such as the Focus 40 Blue and an iPhone thus far.

I have already found the following issues. They use Adobe a great deal, so I need something that I can use to fill out forms? Is this doable, even with using something like Adobe Acrobat DC?

I have sent myself some of the required forms to my private e-mail and have been able to open them with my iPhone, but I'm not sure I can fill them out this way.

If I've requested JFW, is there any potential reason why I'd also need Kurzweil, seeing as JFW has the built-in OCR?

The department I work for also uses a Soft Phone system, which I'm told will not be accessible, so I've requested an iPhone as an alternative.

They have offered me a reader, but I don't see myself needing that enough to justify that expense for the department as well. I successfully did this job, at a state level, with minor issues, for 10 years.

If you'd rather not clutter up the list, please feel free to e-mail me directly.

Claudiadr2013@...

Thanks.

Claudia

One think you can do is copy the link in notepad, then send it.

You can copy it into the browser when the e-mail is received.

Sometimes, you can pull up list links and the link will still wwork without
doing that.

Personally, I would never send a link, or post it on a list, without first
checking that it actually works and that it is not java as has already been
explained.
Sometimes, with long long links, it may be a good idea to use one of those
websites or programs that can shorten links to 20-24 characters.
Does anyone know of a site which can currently do such link shortening?

Hi, JM. Some links run Java scripts, and if you click the link later it will
say, "void".

Most of the time, you'll be able to hit the applications key on a link and
just copy it that way. Much easier than worrying about the line breaks or
copying to a text file.
However some links are designed not to work this way. For example, if I get
a notification from my bank about a money transfer, I cannot copy the link
this way. Not sure how this is determined in html.

If the link is imbedded in the body of the email, you need to copy and paste
what you think of as the entire link into something like Word or Notepad.
Check the link to be sure that unintended line breaks are not included in
the link. If you see a line break (JAWS might say blank or something like
that), get rid of it and let the text of the link join up as it should.

Once you have what you believe to be the correct link, test it first by
activating it in a browser. If it works, send the link by copying it and
then pasting it into the body of an email.

Hi, Madison.
1. In Microsoft Edge, in Settings>Share, Copy and Paste, make sure plain
text is selected as your method to share the link.
2. In your email program, make sure that, in JAWS, Virtual Cursor is set to
Copy from Virtual Cursor. This setting can be found using JAWS key plus V,

Hi, Gery. First, Microsoft Edge are somewhat alike, because they are both Chromium browsers. Second, by going into Settings within Microsoft Edge, you can turn off a lot of clutter by opening Settings, selecting Privacy, search and services, and making sure the following items are not checked,

Save time and money with Shopping in Microsoft Edge,

Show opportunities to support causes and nonprofits you care about

Show travel recommendations in Microsoft Edge

You can also set the page to which Microsoft Edge opens by going to, Start, Home, and New Tabs. Click the button that causes the Home Button to display, and you can set both a Start Page, and a Home Page, which is accessed by ALT plus the HOME key, when in the browser window.

Hello Gery, do you know Chrome?  Or infact, do you know Firefox?

If you have used Chrome, you really can find in Edge a copy of Chrome, because Edge was developped using Chromium as motor in its base. So brousing with Edge is very very symilar to making with Chrome.

Now if you prefer Firefox you can install it and enjoy too.  Perhaps I believe that Windows don't want much Firefox and its performancing in this system is something erratic.  So, finally you can choose the best option for you.

Nice brousing!

If you happen to be familiar with the Google Chrome browser you will feel quite at home with Microsoft Edge.  Edge has retained Microsoft's preferred terminology for bookmarks, which is favorites, but that's about the only really major difference.
