There is a work around! What to do, go to the Subject Field, now go to the start of the word and press your applications key and come down the list.

I'm sorry for bein such a troubled one here. When I click to the desktop, my default synthesizer, Triple-Talk, keeps up and running. From the desktop, when I hit the tab key to go down/over to the start button or to file explorer, this is when elequence jumps in and if I click on anything, file explorer for example, it then goes back to Triple-Talk. How can I keep it to triple talk when I am tabbing down from the desktop? Thanks for your help and understanding, Rick

As far as I remember, the desktop has a different file associated with it as far as JAWS configuration is concerned. To remedy this, with Eloquence speaking, pres CONTROL+JAWSKey+s to bring up the voice profile dialogue. Next, tab to where it says "for Windows oS". This should read "Eloquence". Change the synthesizer to standard, which should be your Triple Talk synthesizer. Press enter, and all should be OK now. Regards, Nermin

Hi, Steve. I believe the keystroke to toggle whether or not space and paragraph markers are displayed is CONTROL plus SHIFT plus 8 on the numbers row, not CONTROL 8.

Re: homes and environments with more than one JAWS users: Switching JAWS user settings
Udo Egner-Walter
Hi Mark,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
the JAWS settings are saved in *.jcf files where * should be the name of the application in which you made your settings, for example Notepad.jcf should have the notepad settings. Default.jcf is the file for settings which should be used in general. If you your knowledge involves scripting languages like VBScript or you can write Batch files and similar, you can copy those *.jcf files first to a folder of your choice and the other user settings to another folder of your choice. Via the batch script you can copy those files back into the user settings folder depending on which user wants her/his settings. Theoretical one could make settings using JAWS script as well. The only problem is to find out which variable in the scripting language stands for the setting. By the way not all settings are stored in a *.jcf file (jcf = JAWS Config File). There are the settings that differ from standard settings. Hope this helps Udo

What if you rename the folder Jaws is in, like
\freedom scientific\Jaws1
and change the desktop shortcut path in its
properties, to reflect it, and then install Jaws a second time, and it will get
installed in \freedom scientific\jaws and then there should be two copies in
\freedom scientific.
I am only speculating, but it might
work.

As mentioned, I'm not looking to create separate window user accounts. The scenario I presented is more akin to one family member sitting down to help another family member out and adjusting the JAWS settings for their comfort, after which the first family member switches the settings back for their comfort. It sounds like the only option is the import and export settings feature. I've never done that before. Do you think it is good for this sort of quick settings changes? That would include things like dictionary changes, voice profile changes, speech and sound scheme changes, etc.

I’m looking for a setting that will allow me to stop JAWS from wrapping to the top of a web page when using Quick Keys. In quick settings, I got no results when I entered “Wrap” and no other setting in the list seemed to fit the bill. Is there a way? This going in circles is driving me crazy. I’m already frustrated enough with this internal company news page that is so busy that I can hardly make sense of it.

Hi, Robin. What you are looking for in JAWS Settings, while Edge is open is Navigation. Search for this after pressing JAWS key plus SIX on the numbers row. Within the Navigation section, look for Web / HTML / PDFs Navigation Navigation wrap, checked. Uncheck this box, and JAWS will no longer wrap when JAWS reaches the bottom of the page.

I had a problem with Alt-A not muting and unmuting in Zoom on one of my computers.
Reinstalling the Zoom JAWS script cleared up the problem.
In Zoom, you can tell Zoom to make a keyboard shortcut global or not. I had made Alt-A not global, as my computer makes a bong sound every time it is pressed, when this is set to global. The downside of not having this keyboard shortcut global is that you have to be in the Zoom active meeting window for it to work.
I hope this helps.

From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Justin Williams

Are there settings I need to change?
Justin
From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Jeff Christiansen
I think it is a function of not having the meeting controls in focus. Alt+A only works from anywhere only if you have set it, or others, to global control. HTH

First, verify that the Alt key is or is not working in other applications.
Second, verify that in JAWS > Options > Manage Application Settings that Zoom is active.

Justin
From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Milton Ota
Ok, there are several things that could be happening.
1. The Host has set up the meeting in Webinar mode and you cannot unmute your self unless you raise your hand and are recognized by the Host.
2. The Host has set the meeting room for all to be muted upon entry.
3. The meeting is being recorded by the Host and you need to get to a Got It button to be able to speak. 4. Lastly, you cannot unmute yourself unless the Host recognizes you and send you a Zoom message that will tell you the Host is asking you to unmute.
ALT + A is the mute and unmute command.
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Justin Williams
Somehow, the script changed.
Now it is working.
But I'm not sure how to get the script to tell you what it is.
However, I'm getting the host is not letting people ummute.
However others can speak though.
I can't unmute. I've closed down zoom and came back inot the meeting.
From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of Milton Ota
Hi,
Have you checked to see what JAWS script is being loaded when you run Zoom?
To check, press Insert + Q.
From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Justin Williams
The first time I used zoom I was able to mute and unmute. Now I'm getting unregistered script, and alt a won't work. I'm using jaws 2022 and the zoom is supposedly on it's latest version.
