Van Lant, Robin

I’m not sure if it matters, if you are not seeing the screen.   If I do insert down arrow while in my inbox, I do hear mine saying Zoom = 100%, but cannot figure out where that is adjusted.  When I did a web search on zoom in outlook, it talks about adjusting the zoom while in a message. If  you compose a new message, hit Alt, O, then Q to open that dialog. The instructions also say to escape out of the message once you make the adjustment to save that setting for all future messages.   However, this doesn’t’ seem to fix the question I think you are posing. In my case, I opened a message, set the zoom level to 75%, exiting out and the insert page down command still reads 100%.   Give it a try on your end.

Good evening everyone,

Is their a way that the zoom in outlook with office 365 can be adjusted so that it says, zoom 100 percent?  I’m asking because, mine says zoom 10 percent. Should it  be set too 100 percent and if so, what’s the keystroke too adjust it?

Thanks in advance for any and all help,

Hi Barbara,

Right arrowing in Details view will tell you the size of files, but not folders. To hear folder size, with focus on the folder, press Alt Enter to get into properties and press Insert B. You will hear a bunch of stuff, including the size of the folder.

If you are having a problem with files in Details view, then I don’t know what is going on.

Hi Marty and all.

I did  go to see if it was unchecked, it was not, so I unchecked it.

No Help.

I did contact Jaws Help desk, and they told me Excel was no longer supported by them or even Microsoft.  So I went back to Jaws 2020, or 2018, and they both still work with Office 2007, meaning all the keystrokes still work for me , at least.

My questions and all of the help given me will just have to be put away for now.

Will keep working in Excel with Old Excel, and Old Jaws for now.

Thanks all.

When I attempt to open options the only choices are exit and about jaws. I
know that isn't right. Could there be something wrong with my instalolation?
Otherwise jaws seems to be functioning the way it should.

Hi all,

I feel a little silly because I can't figure this out on my own, but
jaws
2022 looks different enough that I'm stumped.

I have a focus 40 display and I want to add braille support to jaws on
my windows laptop. I used to do that on the jaws screen under file but
that doesn't appear to be the case any longer.

Could someone please give me directions?

Thanks in advance.

Morey,  If I remember right and you are the one having trouble editing in a cell in Excel, than you want to uncheck that box that says Allow editing in a cell.  I know that this sounds strange, but it will work.

In Excel, check the Options > Advanced dialog to see if allow editing directly in cells is checked. In extremis this is what I would do barring simply upgrading to the most current version of Excel.

Hi Morey,

You mentioned that you are using Excel 2007. I am pretty sure that is your problem. As recently as Office 2016, reading characters inside Excel often misbehaved in the ways you describe. Upgrading to Office 365 or 2021 would almost certainly solve your problem.

Hi all.

I went back to Jaws 2018, and Jaws 2020, keep them around for just this type of thing, and both of them work just fine, meaning the numpad keys for selecting text, etc.

Why not working in 2022...HMMMMM..

Will contact Jaws and see what they have to say. Probably something like I have to update Excel to work with the updated Jaws or something like that...whatcha think??

Thanks all for trying to help with my problem.

Will give the numlock thing a try.

In a given cell if there is a formula, the jaws/ctr/f2 keystrokes will
read formula, but, again, if try to edit the formula using f2 key,
cannot get it to move to any certain character.

same thing, meaning no key response at all

I tried using the jaws/1 to get key help and it says move to next character and move back to prior character in both cases, meaning in the arrow keys and on the numpad.

This is really confusing. Might have to call tech tomorrow and maybe they can help.

Hi Rahul,

I've tried replicating the jaws issue on Chrome and Edge with Jaws 20. I'm consistently finding the search edit  below the heading. Have you come across that with any other screen reader, in case you've tried it? Do check if your Chrome is up to date.
There's a shortcut to open search edit box using the'/'  key when in focus mode just in case, please do check if that works.

Kind regards
