Re: Some questions regarding using VLC media , burning and ripping a CD using this application
I have confirmed that Windows Media Player is still shipping with Windows 11 as of this date. Just put it on my desktop on the Win11 machine and intend to set it as the default audio media player.

Yes it’s turned on as am able to use it and have used it today etc. with the scanner part of the devices software or drivers that are loaded. There’s only one choice showing up to choose from. So wondering if the problem is that have my all in one connected through the network or ethernet connection instead of usb? Haven’t tried that as am able to scan and print etc. with no problems when needed with things set up the way have them. I was just that was trying to see if would obtain a cleaner scan result after scanned. Thanks.

Hi Randy,
Try the following: 1. Open the Run dialog with the keystroke, Windows key + R, and type the following,
shell:appsfolder
and press enter.
Now use first letter navigation using the letter, O , until you land on OneNote.
With One Note highlighted open the context menu with the applications key or shift + F10 and up arrow to, Create shortcut, and press enter.
You'll get a dialog about a shortcut key can't be created here, would you like it on the desktop instead, so press the spacebar on the, Yes, button.
Okay, you're done, a OneNote shortcut should now be on your desktop.

Re: Some questions regarding using VLC media , burning and ripping a CD using this application
Personally, I'm with Curtis on this one. I have never liked VLC's Windows application implementation. It just seems to me to be insanely complicated compared to any one of a number of other options. Now, mind you, if you need some of the myriad features that come with VLC, it's wonderful, but if all I'm doing is playing and/or ripping CDs, Windows Media Player is just so much easier for those tasks. It still ships with Windows 10. I just set up a Windows 11 machine here at home the other day so I'll have to check whether it's still hidden "in the bowels of Windows 11" just like it was in 10.
For anyone new to VLC I strongly suggest you open Help in the Help Menu then go to the links given at the very outset of their help file. I am copying and pasting the pertinent section from that Help here: You can find VLC documentation on VideoLAN's wiki website. If you are a newcomer to VLC media player, please read the You will find some information on how to use the player in the For all the saving, converting, transcoding, encoding, muxing and streaming tasks, you should find useful information in the Streaming Documentation. If you are unsure about terminology, please consult the knowledge base. To understand the main keyboard shortcuts, read the shortcuts page. Help Before asking any question, please refer yourself to the FAQ. Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. Sometime yesterday morning, I went into the VLC media application which is on my desktop, and received a message that said, that there was an update for this program which I installed. My question here is, I don’t see any options on how too either how too rip or burn a CD, or any option that says anything about how too set a file bits rate like there used too be in older versions of windows media player.
If anyone has experience with this newer player, I would appreciate any help and advice on how too go about doing any of these things with this newer version.
Thanks in advance,

Hello,
I have an HP all-in-1. I find if I use HP Scan and Capture and a lot of patience with the JAWS cursor I can select to scan a document. Once the scan is complete the buttons and menus are fairly accessible. I save my document to the desktop in a pdf format and then I can choose the OCR with JAWS. If you just want to read a document, I find that scanning/capturing with my phone produces good results, too.
Hope this helps,

I hope the original questioner will answer my question about this. Hi, Unless I’m wrong there is no connection between JAWS and when your computer sleeps. The setting in System settings controls when the computer sleeps and is different when plugged in or on battery. I have experienced this situation after a system update. That was only one time and other updates did not affect the computer in this way. Did you recently get a Windows update or otherwise update your system ? May want to talk with Microsoft Disability desk if no solution.

Hello Listers,
With JAWS version 2022.21124, my computer won’t automatically go to sleep when I haven’t accessed it within the Windows 10 and JAWS sleep intervals (I have both set for 10 minutes). This sleep mode worked in JAWS 2021 and previous versions.
To avoid confusion, I’m not referring to manually going to the Settings menu and putting JAWS to sleep for certain applications, such as Open Book, which has its own speech feature. I’m talking about the sleep that comes up when you bring up the commands to either sleep, shutdown, restart, etc.
How can I set JAWS 2022 to make my computer automatically go to sleep like Version 2021 and previous ones do?
