You want the perkins, it's essentially the only option.
For a reliable machine look for a second hand one; the newer ones are
very cheaply made and have a habit of jamming or falling apart on you.
Even the ones they (at least used to) sell as 'classic' aren't as
reliable as a good, old, perkins brailler.
If you happen to be in the UK I have two to sell, but otherwise you
should find some on blind sale groups or even often on ebay.

Hi,

Something went wrong.  Once you set up an account you should , shortly, see a screen that lists all of the steps Outlook is doing to verify and check the account.  If there is a failure you will see an error message at the poin that did not work.

May want to delete and try again or edit setting for this account.

Subject: questions about setting up an Outlook account manually

 Hi all,
An aquaintance has been helping me with my Outlook.com account issues and he suggested that I remove my Outlook.com account and then re-install it manually so that I can make it an IMAP account. Now he gave me steps and so I've been working on this today and I have a couple of questions mostly because I've never done this before. I'm hearing the ding sound indicating that I'm receiving new emails and even though the account shows up in the list of accounts within Outlook when I go and check there aren't any new messages (or any old messages either) in my inbox, any idea why this could be happening and what I can do to fix it? Also, any idea how long this account set-up is supposed to take? It's been over an hour now and every time I go and check the mail set-up dialog it just keeps saying that log-on to the IMAP server is in progress, so I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong or if I did something wrong or what... Using latest versions of Jaws and Windows 10, really hope someone can help me!! Thanks

Hey there.

I’m afraid it’s been  a few years now since I used it, so I can’t exactly tell you what steps to take. Plus, it was an old pre-DC version, so things may have changed since then. However a quick google search seems to suggest this is still something Acrobat Pro can do, so I would take a poke around and see what you find.

I of course say yes, and things work beautifully.

How can I get this to work at home?

Will I need this to use Jaw’s OCR capabilities?

I believe adobe acrobat/reader is not needed to use the convenient OCR feature. when focused on a PDF, just press the application key, arrow down to and enter on use Convenient OCR or similar. after the process is finished, you'll be able to navigate, select and copy text as if you were in a word processor.

Here's what I still do, with the hot key for any other version of jaws that's newer. I said that hot key as the key that I used before. After that, I tested, to make sure that it works on the correct version. Of course, I unload the previous version of jaws 1st. Unloading, does not mean uninstalling, but just turning off jaws for the time being I also make sure the window is going to open in maximized view..

moderated Getting my head around SharePoint and Office 365 online

Van Lant, Robin

Hi,

With the start of a new year, I’m trying to embrace learning some of the new technology our company has rolled out.  It’s a bit overwhelming, as they have been making improvements and rolling out access to various elements over time.  Namely, I’m speaking about moving our main communications platform to SharePoint online and leveraging Office 365 and Teams.  Today I’m just going through our SharePoint intranet homepage and trying to click on each button to see what it does.  What, of course, is confusing is that many aspects are customizable and not static.  A link at the top of the homepage says SharePoint, and if I click in it, it shows me various pages that I’m following, other recent pages I’ve visited that I may want to follow and some other things.   I’ll likely call a sighted colleague to walk me through some of the confusing parts, but want to spend some time getting as much of a handle on it as possible.

One question I have is about Office 365.  The first link on this SharePoint Online homepage is called “App Launcher”.  When I expand it, the default list includes links to Word, Excel, One Note, Forms, and a few others.  Other than Forms, my question to anyone with experience is whether there is value in keeping the links to Word, Excel and so on there.  I have the option to remove them from the  launcher, which would simplify my menu to only the things I need.  Since these buttons open the online versions of these programs, and I use the desktop apps, is there any value to a JAWS user of the online versions?  Other than possible Outlook webmail, would I ever use an online version?  I’m assuming it  would be a painful process to use an online version of, say, word, if it works at all with JAWS.

Thanks for thoughts.

Using Windows 10, JAWS 2021, Office 365.

hello friends,

hope this mail finds you well. once again am requesting your support
on how to build word press websites offline using a screen reader. at
least if someone has a YouTube channel, website or book I can read I
will be grateful.
I have struggled to search on the web but I can't seem to be getting
any support.

regards
