So long as you keep current with periodic updates. Previous versions (I’m not sure what the correct term is) of Windows 10 are being phased out from support.

A few notes from my experience with F3.

 

F3 alone repeats a search in most applications. However, when in Word, I must simultaneously press the JAWS key. This is presumably because Word has assigned F3 to another function.

Separately sometimes pressing F# does bring up an edit field. If I’m not mistaken, it happens when I’ve done a search on, say a webpage, then leave that window and return to it. Pressing F3 at that point seems to invoke an edit field.

There is no compelling reasons to move to Windows 11. Windows 10 will continue to be supported until some time in 2025.

Good morning:

There are two major changes in Windows 11 which, currently, will work with JAWS. The first is how the System Tray, often called the Notification area, is managed. In Windows 11, you cannot just flip a switch to have all items shown in the Notification Area. You have to manually go down the list of apps and indicate that you want each app shown in the Notification area individually.

The next change in Windows 11 that you might notice is File Explorer. In the Windows 11 version of File Explorer, the ribbon is gone. You have to press the Alt key then arrow to the right to find the various choices.

Dan Clark has put together about eight lessons so far on the changes in Windows 11. Refer to his website https://dsurf.net/windows-11-training/.

If you are within a return window and can get the cost refunded, that's precisely what I'd do.

As someone who is a PC tech for part of my living, I have a strong dislike for this particular software.  And it's not because it stops me from getting business, but because it not infrequently screws things up for those who use it.  It's on the "uninstall immediately" list when I see it on a computer if the owner consents, and it's on a lot of techs' uninstall immediately lists.

The choice, of course, is yours.

Did you try turning on the Jaws touch cursor?

I have often found that when things aren't identified, I can access them with the Jaws touch cursor.

To activate it, press shift + PC cursor.

To turn it off, double tap the PC cursor.

You navigate with the four arrow keys.

I recently purchased the software System Mechanic. It is a package offered by AOL for cleaning up your hard drive. 

I downloaded it and discovered that JAWS was not able to identify the buttons, or the controls on the application. 

Has anyone used System Mechanic, and how did you get JAWS to interact with the controls. 

I have not contacted the manufacturer, because I think that they would not even know what I am talking about. 

I have uninstalled the software pending a resolution to this issue. 

I am considering having a sighted person share the screen and operate the system for me. I don't really want to do that. So, any help would be appreciated.
