Re: moving files from a folder
Glenn / Lenny
Kevin,
The action of moving is not a good idea for more
than one file, in fact, in my opinion, not at all.
It is better to copy and paste, and then go back to
the other window and if you want to delete them, they should still be
highlighted, and you can just press delete.
If something goes wrong during cut and paste, you
can lose files.
Cut and past should only be done for moving text in
my opinion.
Now for the Jaws cursor,
You would find it better to not use the Jaws
cursor, the PC cursor can do what you want, after moving to a file or selecting
files, just tap the applications key, or if you don't have one of those, press
shift + F10, and arrow down to copy.
Or instead of using the applications key at all,
just do control + C.
Then go to the other folder where you want them to
be copied, and paste with control + V.
HTH.

Subject: moving files from a folder
Hello, I’m using the most recent versions of windows10 and Jaws2022. I’m moving files from one folder to another through windows explorer. I put the cursor on the file name. Then I use the Jaws cursor and place cursor on the file name. I then press the right mouse key. I get the options to copy, cut and so on. I move to cut and press enter. I then move to the new folder. The folder I want is with in multiple folders. For example there is a main folder. Within that folder is then folder 1. Within that folder is folder 1a. I need to put the file in folder 1a. The file is on the clip board. Once at the folder 1a I paste in. I make sure it is in the folder before moving out of folder 1a. It shows up. I go and do something else and then come back to folder 1a. The file I cut and pasted is not in folder 1a. Also there are times I create a sub folder, it shows up and when I go out and come back it no longer exists. What would be causing this to happen? I check other sub folders and the file is no where. Thanks, Kevin

Does anyone have advice on settings, voices, and speech and sound schemes for pleasure reading? I'm used classic with quotes, but modified it to have a sound effect when it comes across a heading as it's easier for me to notice it's a heading.

changing the order of emails
Judy
Hi, I had some trouble and my email client stopped working, but with the help of a sighted friend I got it back, but without all my folders I created and the emails are listed in a different order than I’ve always used. Right now the new ones are on top; I’ve always had it that the new ones were on the bottom, but it’s been so long that I can’t figure out how to change the order back. It kind of drives me crazy this way. How can I turn it around. Using Win 10, outlook 2010 and jaws 2019. Thanks. Judy & Libby

Hi,
Windows Dispart will see the entire partition. What built in manager are you trying?
Also bear in mind the remainder of the partition is probably a recovery one.

I just noticed that my laptop came with a 1tb ssd, and windows only shows it as a 512 disk. This is an issue with the partitions.
The built in windows partition software doesn’t see the extra space. Can someone recommend an accessible partition management software tha t is accessible? Back in the day partition magic was great, but I don’t think that is around anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually you can convert M4A to MP3 and they are not protected.
Just use NCH Switch.

I believe it can be done, but apple’s not gonna make it easy for you to convert the files to an open/accessible format like mp3. Those files are suppsoed to be protected. I’ve seen a couple of pages that show you ways to do this but they all involve some ridiculous steps that seem excessive/time-consuming/overly complicated. What I would do is either: simplyb urn an udio cd, if you can, or, maybe, play the songs througha nd use a programme to capture the output. Ou could do this with most any digital audio editor. You might lose some quality when converting to mp3, but should be fairly reasonable so long as you use a high bitrate like 320.

Hello Everyone, I have a quick question. I am making a Christmas compact disc to send to family and friends. I had a playlist in iTunes. Then I downloaded it on my PC. Now the files are in m4p files. I need to conver them into Mp3 to be able to burn the compact disc. Does anyone know of an easy program to do this? Thanks, Jeff Lukacsena

Re: Open Book Save As Audio
Glenn / Lenny
Yeah, but I know that I didn't have to process a
file that I have had to open.
I know that in the past, I could just paste into a
new open book file and process it.
Last night I even pasted into a new open book file,
and saved it and it still would not process.
But when I opened a DOC file that I had saved to
first, it then would save to audio.
Weird, but now it works.

1. While in Openbook navigate to the text file
you want to open & save as an audio / MP3 or, WAV file. Open the file,
& wait for Openbook to process the
whole file. It won't convert the file to audio until the file is finished processing. 2. After the file has finished processing press, Alt + F, to open the File menu, then press the letter, D, to open the save as audio menu. Or press, Alt + F, & arrow up / down to, Save as audio, & press enter. 3. You'll now be in where you need to choose the page range, & the 2 options are radio buttons, Save Page Range or, Current Page. If you choose the, Save Page Range radio button, tab 1 time & it will give you the page range of the whole file, i.e, 1-115. If the, Current Page, radio button is selected, & you tab 1 time you'll get an, Okay, button, & if you press that Okay button only the current page will be saved as an audio file. If you choose the, Save Page Range, radio button tab 1 time, & you have a, Save page range as a single file, checkbox. If you leave this box checked the file will be saved to audio in individual pages. So, if the file is 115 pages long that's how many individual MP3 files you'll have. If you uncheck this box the file will be saved as just 1 complete audio MP3 file consisting of all the pages. 4. Whether you choose Save Page Range or, Current Page, tab 1 more time to an, Okay, button, press the spacebar. You'll now be in a File name edit field / dialogue box where you type in a name for the file. After filling in the file name, tab 1 time to the, Files of type combobox, & you'll have 2 choices, MP3 or, WAV, arrow up / down to make your choice. Now tab 1 time to the Save, button, & press enter or spacebar, & wait for your file to finish converting. Your audio file / files will be saved to your chosen default location. For example, my Openbook saved files go to My Documents folder, & Openbook creates an, Audio folder that the files are saved to in the My Documents folder when saving as audio. Stay safe & take care. Subject: Open Book Save As Audio Hi,
I hadn't reinstalled Open Book for a while, but I
did tonight because I need to convert some text to audio.
I'm using the Eloquence voice that it comes with,
and I put some text in the new document and try to save as audio in the file
menu, and it keeps saying not available.
Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks.

Mike,
I downloaded your files, and I'll save them in my
open drive account, in case either of us needs them in the future.
Looks like I may not need them though.
I know I haven't had to resort to this in the past,
but my install from yesterday did work, but I had to open a file in Open bBook
to make it work.
I know that in the past, I just opened open book,
and went into edit mode, and pasted the contents of a file into it, but that
doesn't work.
Anyway, I appreciate you sending the
installers.
