Re: magic and jaws 2020
Milton Ota
Hello,
I don’t think that removing JAWS 2020 would have caused the removal of MaGic from your system.
It is my understanding that Freedom Scientific has stopped supporting or distributing MaGic so if you are needing both screen enlargement your choice is to go with Fusion which combines ZoomText and JAWS in one package or buying Zoom Text as a separate license. It will make more sense to buy a License for Fusion, cost wise.

Good morning Listers: I recently installed J 2022. It is my practice to keep the last 2 versions and remove anything older. So I removed J 2020.
Is it possible that in removing J 2020 I also removed Magic? Suddenly Magic has disappeared from my system. I have run every search I can think of, and Magic is no where to be found.
Next question is—can I get it back?

Hi Señor Justice,
I was able to get a meeting using any version
of Jaws older than J2020 that supported tandem I had installed on my
computer.
Stay safe & take care. Mike. Just once, I want a username and password prompt to say: "Close Enough!"

Hi Sandra,
Go into the Options menu, the Voices sub-menu, and choose Voice Adjustment.
The last option in that dialogue is Upper Case Pitch change. It’s an edit box so just delete what’s there and type in a new value.
Cheers,
Ed

Hey, all,
So, making friends with my new computer, I am, of course, sometimes tweaking JAWS settings—David, latest JAWS build, Win. 11. For whatever reason, I don’t seem able to change the capital-letter pitch—I would like it higher than the default. Could someone send thorough instructions? Thx! Doing something wrong, obviously…

Yes, it's called the Settings Center and it's
accessed by pressing, Insert + 6, on the number row while in a specific
application. This will make settings changes for only the application
you're running when opening the Settings Center.
If the person wanted the changes to be for all
programs they would press, control, shift + D, to open the Settings Center
default all applications, after invoking the, Insert + 6,
keystroke.
The Settings Center can also be accessed by
pressing, Insert + F2, to open the, JAWS Manager, then navigating to, Settings
Center, and pressing enter.

Doesn't JAWS have something that is the functional equivalent of what NVDA calls a Configuration Profile, where you can tweak settings and then have that profile become active only when you have focus on a specific application window and not elsewhere?

Re: VLC Media Player
if you have a 64-bit version of Windows (which you almost certainly do if you're using anything newer than Windows 7), this is what you want to download and install:
https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.16/win64/vlc-3.0.16-win64.exe If, by chance, you are using an old 32-bit machine, which is unlikely, then go with this: https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.16/win32/vlc-3.0.16-win32.exe -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. This is my tale of woes. I downloaded “The Nine Lives of Christmas” and couldn’t find it in my Hallmark folder. When I did a search for it, it appeared to be in the VLC folder and I couldn’t delete it. So, I deleted the entire VLC folder. I enjoy using VLC and tried installing one that said it was for windows but it also asked me to install kernel exe. It told me how to go to an older version but I got confused. Help please!!

Thanks for all the help I’ve received before this last question. Some times I believe I forget to reply to the sender so I am taking this time to tell everyone thanks.

Thanks. I had to work with it but it is back to where I like it. If I had to choose from the fractions being said incorrectly, or the numbers being said digit by digit when I am in R S Games or Quinten C Playroom, I’d rather put up with the miss stating the fractions. Thanks once again.
