Re: numbers
Doesn't JAWS have something that is the functional equivalent of what NVDA calls a Configuration Profile, where you can tweak settings and then have that profile become active only when you have focus on a specific application window and not elsewhere?

Re: VLC Media Player
if you have a 64-bit version of Windows (which you almost certainly do if you're using anything newer than Windows 7), this is what you want to download and install:
https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.16/win64/vlc-3.0.16-win64.exe If, by chance, you are using an old 32-bit machine, which is unlikely, then go with this: https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.16/win32/vlc-3.0.16-win32.exe -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. VLC Media Player
mona
This is my tale of woes. I downloaded “The Nine Lives of Christmas” and couldn’t find it in my Hallmark folder. When I did a search for it, it appeared to be in the VLC folder and I couldn’t delete it. So, I deleted the entire VLC folder. I enjoy using VLC and tried installing one that said it was for windows but it also asked me to install kernel exe. It told me how to go to an older version but I got confused. Help please!!
Mona
Thanks for all the help I’ve received before this last question. Some times I believe I forget to reply to the sender so I am taking this time to tell everyone thanks.

Thanks. I had to work with it but it is back to where I like it. If I had to choose from the fractions being said incorrectly, or the numbers being said digit by digit when I am in R S Games or Quinten C Playroom, I’d rather put up with the miss stating the fractions. Thanks once again.

I saw a post explaining how to say numbers a digit at a time, and I thought it was great but now when I am playing in the Quinten C playroom. How do I switch it back?
Thanks

Find it in the list of programs in add/remove programs, hit space on
it to expand, hit advanced and then repair.

Udo, I appreciate your explanation as it helps me understand a little more of what's going on. Here's the description of the Enable Accessible Notification Events. Is it the right setting? "When this check box is selected, Windows generated accessible event notifications will be spoken and provided in Braille using Flash Messages. An example of where you will hear these types of notifications include certain areas in Microsoft Office, such as Business Bars. This check box is selected by default."

On my machine, it is gone if you don't click it almost immediately. If yours is different, you may need to repair office. On 11/23/2021 13:00, Rick Miller wrote:

But how long does it take? I am still having another problem. For experimentation I have been trying to print a two-page document, but although the document is showing in its entirety on the screen only one page is printing.

Hi Mark,

this are the results I expected. Firefox as non-UIA browser saying much less as the other browsers. Since UIA is part of Chromium browsers Google Chrom speaks more and Microsoft Edge speaks the most. Since Microsoft is the inventor of UIA it's clear they support UIA the most. They implanted a lot of UIA events so Screenreader can speak them. For example the page loading, or if a download is complete. So please be careful to change the setting because you might miss some informations (like finishing of a download). But this is a good thing about JAWS: you can change settings very fast and find out which one is best for you. The setting you changed recently are at the end of the tree view in Settings Center to change the settings fast if you don't like it. Good luck in trying out Udo Am 23.11.2021 um 02:30 schrieb Mark <mweiler@...>:

Hi Betina,

The email you replied to has a lot of good suggestions in it, and ultimately you might have to call Freedom Scientific. However, years ago I had a similar problem with a display, so that brings to mind two ideas: You have probably already done this, but have you restarted the computer? Sometimes it takes that to get JAWS to recognize the braille display. In my case it turned out that my cable was bad. As soon as I used another cable the display connected. Also, if you can I would try a different usb port. Good luck! Take care and stay safe! Debby
