Udo, before posting I did tests on Firefox, Edge and Chrome. I've repeated and pasted results here. Does it prove your theory? Edge certainly is chatty.

Jaws and Outlook question
Madison Martin
Hi all,
Recently I've noticed that after Jaws reads the subject line of a message in my inbox rather then just saying the time that the message arrived it now says the day of the week, then the date and then the time, is there any way that I can get it to only say the time that the message arrived (like it used to do)? Using latest versions of Jaws, Office 365 and Windows 10. Really hope someone can help me!! Thanks Madison

Mike B.
Okay the latest download links for JAWS2021
& JAWS2022 have already been posted today, but below is the most recent
download link for JAWS2020 + what's new. This update is from a couple of
weeks ago.
For those who use the Tandem feature, this
update is required if you need to establish a Tandem connection with JAWS or
Fusion 2022 or higher.
Below is the download link + what else is new in this release. J2020.2110.3 32 & 64 bit: https://jaws2020.vfo.digital/2020.2110.3.400/01BF761E-C6C6-4387-8E1F-1BBE3BB8EC96/J2020.2110.3.400-any.exe Enhancements in JAWS 2020.2110.3 (November 2021) For those who use the Tandem feature, this update is required if you need to establish a Tandem connection with JAWS or Fusion 2022 or higher. To download the latest release, visit the Downloads web page. You must be logged on as an administrator to install this software. Enhancements in JAWS 2020.2012.9 (December 2020) The following is a list of improvements made between the August 2020 release and the December 2020 update. list of 15 items • In the 2020 December Update, we have included a fix that will help users of ZoomText and Fusion in the future when they uninstall that version yet continue to use later versions. There was a problem in earlier 2020 versions where it was impacting shared components with other versions such as the most recent release. We encourage anyone who still has the 2020 versions installed, to please update now even if you are not currently using it. • Fixed a long-standing issue in File Explorer where JAWS would often not announce the correct number of files in the current folder. • JAWS now properly reads as expected in Skype when moving focus back to the app without the need to first press ALT and ESC. • When launching the Skype app included in Windows 10, JAWS now loads the correct settings files. • While in a Zoom meeting, you can now press CTRL+SHIFT+T to find out who is currently talking. Zoom recently added this option with CTRL+2 but we were previously using it for a JAWS feature. • Removed the announcement of Tutor Messages in Microsoft Office Ribbons as they were very verbose when attempting to navigate. • Resolved an issue when selecting all text (CTRL+A) in a large Word document. This action would cause JAWS to hang for several seconds. • Addressed an issue in Word documents where JAWS was not announcing indentation increments when pressing TAB. • Resolved an issue in Excel where JAWS was not reading the selected item in various combo boxes in the Font dialog box. • Resolved an issue where JAWS was not reading the Auto Complete options in the Chrome Address bar. • Addressed an issue where same page links were not always working as expected in Chrome or Edge Chromium. • Added five new Japanese voices to the Add/Remove Voices utility, which allows you to sample and download Vocalizer Expressive 2 voices for use with JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion. • Resolved an issue with navigating to the configuration editor in Thunderbird Email when running JAWS or Fusion. • Addressed reports of JAWS performance issues encountered after accessing the Start menu multiple times. • Updated braille drivers provided by Papenmeire. list end Stay safe & take care. Date: Monday, November 22, 2021, 1:17 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Hi Mark, the reason JAWS is speaking some strings twice is as follows: JAWS uses some framework to gather information like the page title.Since a few years there's a new framework called UIA. JAWS hooks itself in the UIA framework and gets the information there. But the old one still exists and this is reason some things are spoken twice. And because UIA has a lot of information (at least in Microsoft Edge) JAWS is quite chatty there. As far as I know there's a setting to disable the new UIA methods. Since I haven't an English version of JAWS I can't remember the exact name. I think it was something like "UIA" or "Automation". But if you disable the checkbox JAWS doesn't announce the UIA messages like the one if a download was completed. To proof if I'm right with my suspicion you can use Firefox, since Firefox doesn't use UIA. Edge is the browser which uses UIA most followed by the browser which use Chromium as a base (Google Chrome, Brave and so on). Re: Jaws 2021 and OCR component not install
James Lockwood
Yes it did work at least it did last week. For some reason however after I installed Kurz well now I’m back to OCR component not installed. I have subsequently removed all the programs jaws open book, and Kurzwell and just installed jaws and it’s still saying component not installed. By the way, calling Freedom Scientific is a waste of time. Last week their suggestion was to run Windows update. This week they tell me adobe DC professional PDF reader will cause an error and that you have to use the free Adobe reader. So I uninstalled professional DC and installed the free Adobe reader, still same error. And I know that DC professional works withAnd I know that DC professional works with it because it did and still does on my prior windows machine. And despite the fact that jaws, downloads or at least it’s supposed to, the OCR component from one of their servers, there’s no way they can get you a link to download just that item. This is entirely unacceptable. The customer service is a farce. I think they flip a coin or pull a number out of a hat to determine what to tell you to do next so you get off the phone.

Re: braille writer
Bill Tessore
I tried looking for a non-electric Mount Batten braille writer that I mentioned earlier. But I too found no such device. I DID find an electronic device suitable for braille learners and even professional braille users. So it seems the manufacturers have abandoned the electricity independent model for its technologically advanced progenitor. I apologize for the confusion.

Re: Fw: [blind-t] Fw: [blind-hams] weather plus addon for nvda
Remember that an NVDA Add-On is the functional equivalent of a JAWS script.
NVDA itself does not support this natively, it's an add-on that does. That's not hair splitting, either. Were someone to wish to create a JAWS script for this function, they could. It appears that someone has, but it's not free, as Hartgen includes Weather as part of its J-Say script, but J-Say goes well beyond just that functionality. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 It is the function of creative men to perceive the relations between thoughts, or things, or forms of expression that may seem utterly different, and to be able to combine them into some new forms--the power to connect the seemingly unconnected. ~ William Plomer

Re: Help Using JAWS to delete Blue Mountain Contact
Bill White
Hi, Rick. I have had a similar problem with an "OK" button on Google Voice. This is what I did to invoke the "OK" button. 1. Check the check box next to the address you want to delete as you did before. 2. Find the "OK" button. 3. Route the PC Cursor to the JAWS Cursor with either JAWS key plus the plus key on the NumPad, or with CAPSLOCK plus the apostrophe key when JAWS is in Laptop Keyboard Mode. 4. Press ENTER after performing step 3. 5. Refresh the screen as Mike B suggested with JAWS key plus ESCAPE. 6. Check to see if the address has been deleted.
Please let us know if either Mike B's suggestion or my suggestion was successful in allowing you to delete the address.

Are any of you familiar with the Blue Mountain e-card service? It has e-cards for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It also has an addressbook where you can store all your contacts. My problem is deleting a contact from the addressbook. The directions say that if you want to delete someone, check the contact and then hit the Delete button at the top of the page. I have multiple addresses for one contact and I am trying to delete one of them. When I check the box next to the address I want to delete there appears a notice to delete selected. I hit the Enter key and a dialog pops up. At the very bottom of the page there is an OK button. I hit the Enter key on it but the address I want to delete will not go away. If any of you out there have used Blue Mountain, can you give me some help and advice.
