Hello, all:

I am using the Focus blu 40, 4th generation display with windows 11,
and JAWS 2022. I have connected it using bluetooth, but this is the
first time connecting the device using the USB port. I have tried
going through the JAWS Braille menu, and following the steps to
connect via USB but nothing happens. I have tried turning the Braille
display on and off, and I do know I must have my Braille display
turned on before activating JAWS. Any help would be appreciated.Thank
you.

Sincerely,
Betina Vega

Good morning everyone,

I am writing about an annoying issue which happens whenever I open a message with outlook,  using the latest version of jaws2022, and   windows 10.  When I find a message that is in my inbox that I want too read,  I press the enter key too open it, and get this stupid message that says, read only.  When this happens, sometimes it says space, and then I have too arrow down through the message in order too finish reading.  And sometimes, it will read down through the message.

I hope that this issue will be addressed in the next jaws  update and freedom scientific technical support    is aware of this ongoing issue that many of us are facing.

If anyone has any fixes that can make this annoying  issue  disappear,  it would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Hello:

If you are running Windows 10, you really need to update your JAWS software.

As to your specific issue, if you are using a laptop with a touch pad in front of the keyboard, it is oftentimes helpful to turn off the touchpad to avoid accidentally touching it and yanking your focus away from what you are working on.

Open the start menu and search for "touch". Open Touchpad settings and turn off the touchpad by checking the appropriate box.

Kindly,

Curtis Chong

Hi group,

I am having an issue with JAWS on windows 10 on my machine, when
accessing the desktop or start menu on windows 10 JAWS keeps moving
focus on the screen back to the taskbar -

I have tried hiding the taskbar in desktop mode via the taskbar
settings however this has had no affect.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue or is this just a issue
with JAWS 18 on Windows 10?

Cheers,

Hi Rahul!
Same situation here. Any help for both of us would be appreciated. As for me, I suppose it depends on the fact that i use the german version of jaws. Are you also using a non-english jaws? If that is the case, I suppose it is a matter of localization (often shortcuts and keystrokes change depending on the language of an application)
Thanks in advance, Helmuth

Hi all,

As part of my job, I have to collaborate with colleagues using Google
Docs. The comments and revisions that they make are hard to access
using Docs for me. So I often end up just downloading the document
into Word. It is quite hard to access these changes in Word as well as
JAWS does not typically treat them the way it treats
comments/revisions made in a word document.

The main difficulty I face in accessing comments is that the
keystrokes that are supposed to help you get into a comment's text
don't work for me. So even if I know that there is a comment on the
word Rahul, I am unable to open that comment up and see its contents.
And as for revisions, I do not know how one can jump from one revision
to another. Can someone who uses Docs regularly in this way help me,
please?

Warmly,

Hi, Edge will come on your new machine, it is a part of windows. I've never been in the app store so I don't know what it offers. As for the other web browsers you find them on their own web sites. If when you get your machine you let us know which browser your interested in then people will be able to give you the web address to download it from.

Hi, James. Have you tried uninstalling Chrome completely, then reinstalling it? What I mean by completely uninstalling Chrome is this:

When you uninstall Chrome through either Control Panel>Programs and

some folders and files that belong to Google Chrome. If you type into the "Run" dialog the following command, %userprofile%\AppData\local and remove the "Google" folder, without the quotes, you can get a completely clean reinstall of Chrome. Perhaps this could solve your Google Chrome intermittent crashing problem.

Hi, Judy. Because your JAWS is set to either Punctuation some, or none, you aren't hearing the period after the plus sign. It's Windows plus the period. You don't use the plus sign.

Haven't really bothered with this (although I don't' really mind inserting

You should be able to arrow through the lists and categories and select one

I recently built a new computer. I have windows 10 professional. I installed open book 9, the latest version. I then installed Jaws 2021 from the off-line 1.3 GB installation file. But, the OCR component is not installed. that is what I keep getting told whenever I try to OCR a PDF. I called Support and all they told me was make sure windows is up-to-date. That is pretty infuriating. I have sent try to remove jars, completely along with all shared components and then reinstalled it. No different. I have installed all my previous versions of jaws, 2018, 2019, 2020 while also having 2021 on the computer, still, OCR component not installed. Any help much appreciated
