We are serving at our church and it's online and using an online platform that normally works with Jaws. For some reason, on my wife's laptop computer, when she goes to press the leter E to go to the fiorm field, it keeps telling her there are no form fields on thsi page. However, when I run the same page on my laptop, I can press ther letter E to see the form fields and it works properly. We are wondering if she has a newer version of windows than I do. What is causing this not to work? On other web pages, she can go to the edit fields. Here is the website we are having issues with. https://sunvalleycc.online.church/

Hi,
I also can’t duplicate the problem with JAWS 2021. However, I have seen it with Narrator as well.
Does it happen to you with Narrator?
All the best

I’m not sure if others have noticed this problem. I will say that this does not affect any of the JAWS 2022 betas or the final version. With the latest update for JAWS 2021 I am noticing some extra wording when holding down the alt key and repeatedly pressing the tab key to navigate through running applications. When you first press this key combination JAWS will say “”task switching, running applications list box.” I have noticed this behavior on two different computers, both of which are running Windows 10 version 21 H1. This behavior does not occur if you press and then release alt+tab to open the last application which had focus. I have reported this to Vispero support but they were unable to duplicate the problem.

Working with comments/revisions in Google Docs
Rahul Bajaj
Hi all,
As part of my job, I have to collaborate with colleagues using Google Docs. The comments and revisions that they make are hard to access using Docs for me. So I often end up just downloading the document into Word. It is quite hard to access these changes in Word as well as JAWS does not typically treat them the way it treats comments/revisions made in a word document. The main difficulty I face in accessing comments is that the keystrokes that are supposed to help you get into a comment's text don't work for me. So even if I know that there is a comment on the word Rahul, I am unable to open that comment up and see its contents. And as for revisions, I do not know how one can jump from one revision to another. Can someone who uses Docs regularly in this way help me, please? Re: SAPI 5 Voices For Windows

Morning Annabelle,
Yes, using the modified installer you can add the voices from your cd to the windows text to speech panel, although they will show up in the 32bit text to speech panel and not the standard 64bit windows panel, but they can then be used with any third party apps. As mentioned yesterday it will only be the installer file and not the voices, so you’ll still need the CD, but I’m not sure what the rules are about posting download links to software/installers here on the mailing list, I’m sure it would be fine as it doesn’t include the voices, but rather than posting it here and causing any potential issues, if you want a copy drop me an email to paul.lemm@... and I’ll send you over a copy privately, it also has a read me file with the instructions on how to use the installer and access the windows 32bit text to speech panel to set the cd voices to your system default text to speech voices

Hey Paul! What I was actually trying to do was add voices like Tom, Emily, Serena, Daniel, Jennifer, Jill, and the like, to the Windows 10 Text-To-Speech panel. Is that actually possible? If so, what do I do?

Hello sir, I got the problem fixed. It turn out that this feature is only for developers according to what I gathered based on my research and I looked up how to turn on Developer mode in Win 11 and and went ahead and installed the team app again and this time I was a success.

Hi, That’s odd. What is the Windows 11 build you are using (say, 22000.318, which can be obtained from WinVer)? In this case, I would say this is something Microsoft should be made aware of (sorry). Cheers, Joseph

Re: Windows 11 chat app
Hi, It’s been a while since setting it up (I set up mine back in August or September while testing this feature as a Windows Insider). It turns out Microsoft Teams that is used by Chat is actually a web app. It might be possible that somehow the Chat portal might be having difficulty connecting you to Teams web portal for some reason (yes, you do need a Microsoft Account to use the portal properly). You say you hear “try again” when you press Windows+C? Can you tell us more, including exactly what this screen says (surely there might be additional text). Cheers, Joseph

Hi, The Chat app is, essentially, a portal to Microsoft Teams. You need to have a Microsoft Account and Microsoft Teams (preview) app installed to sign in and use it. Cheers, Joseph

Hi all, I have a question here regarding how to set up the Windows 11 Chat app. Recently, I installed Windows 11 and there is a feature that I really want to take advantage of, and this feature is the Chat app. I hit the command Win+C to activate this feature but everytime time I try to set it up, it wont show me the setup button instead it shows me the try again button. I hit the try again button and nothing happened. If you have configured the Windows 11 chat app before, can you please show me how you do it? Thanks Best regards

Keith, While Firefox is generally a terrific browser I don't recommend using it with JAWS due to its slow performance. On four different computers I have used Firefox has never worked well with JAWS since version 57 when that browser went through some changes. Any Chromium browser should work equally well, whether we're talking about Edge, Chrome, Brave or others. I personally prefer Brave due to the fact that it is very much focused on user privacy.

You can make maximized the permanent setting for Microsoft Edge by going to the icon on the desktop, pressing alt-enter for properties, then tabbing past the shortcut option to "Run as..." Use the arrow keys to find maximize and press the spacebar. Then tab to Apply. You'll be told you can't because you need administrative rights, but press spacebar again and you'll get them! Then press spacebar on Apply again, then tab to Okay.
