wWe are having an issue with JAWS and form fields on a website.

We are serving at our church and it's online and using an online platform
that normally works with Jaws.

For some reason, on my wife's laptop computer, when she goes to press the
leter E to go to the fiorm field, it keeps telling her there are no form
fields on thsi page.

However, when I run the same page on my laptop, I can press ther letter E to
see the form fields and it works properly.

We are wondering if she has a newer version of windows than I do.

What is causing this not to work? On other web pages, she can go to the edit
fields.

Here is the website we are having issues with.

Hi,

I also can’t duplicate the problem with JAWS 2021. However, I have seen it with Narrator as well.

Does it happen to you with Narrator?

All the best

Subject: Extra Verbiage in the November 2021 JAWS 2021 Update When Using Alt+Tab to Cycle Between All Running Applications

I’m not sure if others have noticed this problem. I will say that this does not affect any of the JAWS 2022 betas or the final version.

With the latest update for JAWS 2021 I am noticing some extra wording when holding down the alt key and repeatedly pressing the tab key to navigate through running applications. When you first press this key combination JAWS will say “”task switching, running applications list box.” I have noticed this behavior on two different computers, both of which are running Windows 10 version 21 H1.

This behavior does not occur if you press and then release alt+tab to open the last application which had focus.

I have reported this to Vispero support but they were unable to duplicate the problem.

moderated Working with comments/revisions in Google Docs

Rahul Bajaj

Hi all,

As part of my job, I have to collaborate with colleagues using Google
Docs. The comments and revisions that they make are hard to access
using Docs for me. So I often end up just downloading the document
into Word. It is quite hard to access these changes in Word as well as
JAWS does not typically treat them the way it treats
comments/revisions made in a word document.

The main difficulty I face in accessing comments is that the
keystrokes that are supposed to help you get into a comment's text
don't work for me. So even if I know that there is a comment on the
word Rahul, I am unable to open that comment up and see its contents.
And as for revisions, I do not know how one can jump from one revision
to another. Can someone who uses Docs regularly in this way help me,
please?

Warmly,
Rahul

I would have to say google chrome, although it's a bit buggy on some

Morning Annabelle,

Yes, using the modified installer you can add the voices from your cd to the windows text to speech panel, although they will show up in the 32bit text to speech panel and not the standard 64bit windows panel, but they can then be used with any third party apps. As mentioned yesterday it will only be the installer file and not the voices, so you’ll still need the CD, but I’m not sure what the rules are about posting download links to software/installers here on the mailing list, I’m sure it would be fine as it doesn’t include the voices, but rather than posting it here and causing any potential issues, if you want a copy drop me an email to paul.lemm@... and I’ll send you over a copy privately, it also has a read me file with the instructions on how to use the installer and access the windows 32bit text to speech panel to set the cd voices to your system  default text to speech voices

Hey Paul!

What I was actually trying to do was add voices like Tom, Emily, Serena, Daniel, Jennifer, Jill, and the like, to the Windows 10 Text-To-Speech panel. Is that actually possible? If so, what do I do?

Hi Annabelle,

I too have the old real speak voices cd which jaws used to ship with their older versions of jaws, I still use those voices on my windows 64bit system since the ones shipped on cd although only 32bit they could be used with third party software, so I often use those voices when playing audio games since I prefer those voices to the built in Microsoft voices. If you want the new 64bit voices for jaws you can download these   directly from the freedom scientific website, the newer 64bit voices I believe are called ‘Vocaliser voices’. I’ll put the link below, the voices downloaded from their site though can only be used with jaws , but those are the voices I’d recommend you use if you just want to add additional voices to your installation of Jaws.  If you do however specifically  want to use the real speak voices from your cd I do have a modified installer which will let you install them on a 64bit machine, this is a modified version of the installer though so not an official release from jaws  but something just created by a jaws user. Since it uses the voices from  your CD these are still only 32bit voices and are now somewhat old and dated  so they won’t sound as good as the newer vocaliser  voices. If you do want the installer, To avoid breaking any list rules I can send the modified installer but it won’t actually include any   of the real speak voices, so it’s just the modified installation file itself without any voices, therefore you’ll need the actual CD itself to get the voices from, as without the CD the installer won’t do anything as previously mentioned the installation file doesn’t contain any voices at all. anyway, like I said earlier the best thing if you want just the most up to date voices for Jaws is to use the ones from their website, the link to that is below you just need to select the link that is appropriate to your specific version  of Jaws

Hi, it's Annabelle.

I have a CD Rom of Realspeak Solo voices that came with JAWS 4.5, which includes Javier (Latin American Spanish), Tom (American English), Jennifer (American English), Emily (British English), (Daniel (British English), Serena (British English), and Paulina (Latin American Spanish), but I can't get these voices to load into JAWS 2021 in Windows 10, as the disk says they're specifically for 32-bit systems. Is there a CD ROM out there that has 64-bit versions of these SAPI 5 voices?

Hi,

It’s been a while since setting it up (I set up mine back in August or September while testing this feature as a Windows Insider).

It turns out Microsoft Teams that is used by Chat is actually a web app. It might be possible that somehow the Chat portal might be having difficulty connecting you to Teams web portal for some reason (yes, you do need a Microsoft Account to use the portal properly).

You say you hear “try again” when you press Windows+C? Can you tell us more, including exactly what this screen says (surely there might be additional text).

Hi,

The Chat app is, essentially, a portal to Microsoft Teams. You need to have a Microsoft Account and Microsoft Teams (preview) app installed to sign in and use it.

Thanks Adrian, for suggesting to check the maximazation. I think that fixed it. I'd completely forgotten, I so rarely have to do that. Will try and remember with this site.

hi,
Thanks to those who answered my earlier question about windows 10 versus Windows 11. I will be sticking with windows 10, thanks to your unanimous opinions!
when I last used a PC, I was using Internet explorer. That is no longer an option. I am curious as to which Web browsers people recommend for best use with Jaws.
Thanks in advance for any insights. Keith
