Whether cross-posting, or multi-posting, the end result is the same.  And the article I referenced gives a better explanation of why this has been considered "poor form" for as long as I've been participating on technical support forums or emailing lists.

And the warning the gentleman who wrote that article gives is, I can assure you, quite true.  You can and will eventually be ignored once you have a reputation for multi-posting/cross-posting.

I think it can only be considered cross-posting if someone sends the same message to multiple lists in one message, by putting all groups in the CC or BCC fields.
If people cross-post by sending to multiple groups in one message, what can happen is when someone on the list replies, and their eMail client is sending to all, they are then also sending to a list that they may not belong to and will get an error message from that server.
But although annoying, I don't consider it cross-posting if the messages were sent separately.

If its anything like win10 then you can restore back to your previous  operating system  under update and security  > backup

 

Thats if you haven’t deleted any of the previous os backups or later than 10 days

so, the alternative is to replace the old subject with a new one.

Narrator will let you do mouse clicks, and all kinds. Besides, you don’t
need sighted help to install most screen readers.

I hate to say "I told you so", but keep this experience in mind whenever the next major update to an operating system comes along, it really is better to wait sometimes and not to be among the first group of people to upgrade especially if as you say you are not comfortable with potentially wiping out your entire system and starting from scratch.

I'm not at all comfortable even attempting to do this, wish there was some other solution that doesn't involve uninstalling and re-installing programs, doing this for Jaws was hard enough using Narrator.

As somebody else pointed out before, since you probably did an in-place upgrade it may just be the time to make sure you have a backup of your data and wipe the system clean and then do a clean install of Windows 11 from a USB installation drive, then reinstall Jaws and Office via your Microsoft 365 subscription and see if this clears up the issues.

I agree, but what throws people is object navigation. Most people don’t use the touch cursor commands in JAWS, which carries out similar functionality either.

 

There’s a lot of good stuff in NVDA, and of course, you can emulate the JAWS cursor, by going into screen review mode in NVDA.

 

Where NVDA is weaker in my view, is Office products such as Outlook. The Email reading experience is not so nice, especially now that JAWS 2022 is lightning fast with Outlook.

People come on, do you really think NVDA or any other screen reader will recommend another one?  As for Narrator, I still can’t get it to work without it not using any terminology close to the left mouse button or right mouse button.  Why is that important?  Because when I’ve got a newer computer, it is virtually impossible to use narrator to install any other screen reader.  Thus sighted assistance is mandatory.

I have brought it up on a NVDA list where maintainers monitor and post and they all demonstrated no interest in including Jaws shortcuts as a selection, and state that folks just have to get used to what they think is the best user interface.

I work with and teach dolphin, NaRrator, JAWS, NVDA, and ChromeVox. I just want to point out that most maintainers of NVDA are screenreader users. 

 

You may disagree with how they set up the system and keystrokes, but it not appropriate to assume they are in some way indifferent to the needs of the blind community or actively antagonistic to the blind community. Especially when the accusation is made behind their backs. 

 

That said, there are guides online for migrating from JAWS to NVDA. But also narrator is an option, though it appears oftentimes to have more in common with Mac OS Voiceover than JAWS.

If you can't afford JAWS, you can still use it in 40 min mode. Or get NVDA, it is Free and is a  great screen reader and there are tutorials to help you migrate from JAWS to NVDA.
