What keystroke do you use to open the combo boxes?

Laurie, thanks, that lets me know it’s not my 2019 jaws, even with the most current it doesn’t work. I can reply to someone else’s message, but that’s all I can do. I guess they care about neighbors as long as they aren’t disabled. It really steams me, something maybe the NFB or ACB can get on. Maybe a law suit would give them inspiration. Judy & Libby

It’s funny that this question was sent. It’s been several months since I last used the page. Back then I could find and do whatever I needed to do. This week I gave up at it completely. I’m using Windows 10 and JAWS 22.

Have you tried it with the virtual cursor turned off? I used to have to deal with a combo box on my online banking where I had to select the account I wanted to pay business taxes from and that combo box was doing nothing whether I tried enter or Alt + Down Arrow, but when I turned off the virtual cursor and tabbed to it I could easily select the account I wanted, tab out of it, turn the virtual cursor back on and complete filling out the form.

Should it also work with the virtual cursor? Of course it should, but if it can be done without then it may not be ideal, but it is also not inaccessible, just required a different technique.

Because there is no way to contact them other than doing it online. I searched the web for any phone number and even went to get human.com, and they even said there is no phone number, no direct email, you have to fill out a contact form and pick a subject from a combo box that doesn’t work with jaws. And the fact that a few people on here already said they used to be able to do things on next door, as I also was able in the past, this is my conclusion. Their website now is totally inaccessible, nothing works unless you are just replying to someone else’s message. It’s a mess. If they cared, they would make sure it was accessible. This is an international social media platform…there is no excuse.

But have either of you contacted them? If not, how can you say whether they are interested or not?

So if you have only the yearly subscription, you are screwed as far as Jaws

goes, because if you want to use a perfectly fine windows, your yearly

subscription will stop working, and you cannot just get a new yearly

subscription for your older windows.

Yes, same keystroke combo I’ve used for years to do this. I use JFW 2022 professional on a windows 10 laptop.

Only change is updating to JFW 2022 from JFW 2021.

And on top of that I have yet to see a computer with Windows 7 which can't run Windows 10 just as well, I have Windows 10 on my 8-year old laptop which we still use occasionally at my store if we need something we can move around and it runs just as good on it as Windows 7 did.

There are countless resources available to get started using the newer windows versions. Windows versions that are no longer getting security updates should not be used on a daily basis - this is simply asking for all kinds of problems and you are risking any information that is on said machine, among a good number of programs and applications no longer supporting your, at this point, 11 year old operating system. Checking email, banking, even general, basic web browsing means that you are going to use a more outdated web browser and email client every day. 
Perfectly good means secure, receiving regular updates pertaining to security fixes and patches. Perfectly good means compatibility with the applications you use on a daily basis, along with their updates which in and of themselves contain security fixes, bug fixes and improvements. Perfectly good means a user can feel safe, comfortable and secure using their operating system and the files therein. Perfectly good does not mean an operating system which, day by day, will become less and less secure - in an age where that is already being taken seriously on systems that are fully up to date. Windows 7 is 2 years on from being officially supported and updated. It is time to move on, and I thank freedom scientific for doing just that, which will bring more inevation and compatibility with things here and now, like Windows 11.
