moderated When can others hear my JAWS in a Microsoft Teams meeting

Hi all,
While speaking in a Microsoft Teams meeting, despite not sharing
screen and also using a wired headphone, other participants can hear
my JAWS.
What's the reason and what are instances where JAWS can/ cannot be
heard by others?

You can set up a domain name quite easily by using one of the many
registrars. The one I like is www.nearlyfreespeech.net . Its quite
privacy oriented, does not cost very much to register a domain and the
message boards are quite nice. That does not create a website. There
are many places you can do that, such as wordpress.com which is
supposed to be pretty accessible.

moderated JAWS not speaking at all on starting system

Hi all,
I use Windows 10, JAWS 2021. Though I have chosen the option for JAWS
to start automatically, on some occasions, it does not speak at all.
This happens both on Starting as well as from Sleep mode. On checking
through sighted assistance, my microphone is not muted.
Only option left is to restarting and keep doing till I hear JAWS speak.

I think YouTube has throttled speeds for downloading through Pontes Media Downloader to conserve time for those actually watching the videos. I think they don't want people to download the videos, because when they download, the ads are skipped, and the video uploaders don't make money for themselves or for YouTube.

I am not sure what is going on, but my downloads in Pontes media 3.2 are taking a long time.  I have tried several different YouTube files.  I can otherwise download outside of this program in more typical times.  So what I want to be able to do is monitor the download time in Pontes.  A sighted person seemed to be able to view this.  How can I monitor the time with JAWS?

I actually just switched to an Outlook.com address but still have my gmail in case I want to switch back. but Outlook on the phone has push so you don't have to keep refreshing.

The question was about J2021, hence the steps I posted.  But, you bring up  a good point since many others that run J2019 will learn that setting isn't available in J2019, and they won't go looking for that setting now.

You are going to yell at me, because I was looking for this feature in JAWS 2019 and apparently, it isn't there yet.  I used the search field and looked for "enable" and "virtual cursor"

Hi Everyone,

 

I am not sure what is going on, but my downloads in Pontes media 3.2 are taking a long time.  I have tried several different YouTube files.  I can otherwise download outside of this program in more typical times.  So what I want to be able to do is monitor the download time in Pontes.  A sighted person seemed to be able to view this.  How can I monitor the time with JAWS?

Barbara, find the link to version 2.1. I’ll see if I can send you mine, but if it doesn’t work,. Go on line to find versiohn2.1. it is much better. Jim

Dennis, have you tried pressing shift plus numpad plus to turn on touch cursor? that may help.

You’re talking about Windows 7, correct? It is no longer supported, the questioning why the current release of the software doesn’t work with it? Really?

I let the update feature update my 2021 to the latest build, and now have a problem that isn’t in previous builds.

When I go to the Start menu search field, then type in Settings, it loads the Windows Settings app.

Navigating in that app, it acts as if forms mode automatically gets activated.

Yes indeed. I edited both the standard sound scheme and the one assigned to
Microsoft Word and changed it so that JAWS generates one sound for a single
cap and a different sound for a word that is all caps. The folks at Vispero
can help you by providing you with the steps to do this.

If you type" Cap" in the settings center, there are some options. I saw a toggle for whether JAWS announces cap during say all and another that allows you to choose whether cap is indicated when navigating by word, character or just during spell. Especially with alphanumeric passwords where capitals can be in the middle of the word, I've definitely thought about changing this setting.

Hi, again, Ann. You can switch your JAWS Sound Scheme with the following command,

ALT plus JAWS key plus S.

If you switch to one of the following sound schemes, JAWS will say cap when a capital letter is indicated, or All Caps, if the word is in all capital letters,

ProofReading (Attributes and Font Info)
ProofReading (Attributes)
ProofReading (Attributes, Font Info and color)
