Hi, Michael. In Control>Power Options>Choose What The Power Buttons Do>Change Settings That Are Currently Unavailable, do you have Fast Startup turned off? Sometimes this can interfere with all components shutting down.

Hi all, I'm sending this email out because I experienced a problem on my computer. The problem that I have is that my computer won't turn off everytime when I use the normal way to shut it down. I did everything I could to solve this problem but in the end, it was useless. Everytime when I attempt to shut down the computer, it says shutting down on the screen but the fan and the LED light next to the power button still remain on. When I first experienced this problem I thought that I packed my laptop with the switch facing down the backpack. After I realized this, I immediately corrected how I packed my laptop and the problem still existed. The laptop will get very hot from the fan and the fan will remain running until the computer battery drains out. Have you all experienced this problem before? If so, how did you fix it? I'm using an HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-ds0xxxs laptop with Windows10 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1237 and Jaws 2021 latest update. Please let me know if there is a way to solve this or not. Thanks Best regards Michael H. munn

I would suggest either a driver issue, or

Well I think regarding physical limitations only,
99.9% of people can use a touch screen,
I could use one with my nose, my tongue, or even my
toe if I had to.
So when folks say they cannot, it is not for
physical reasons IMO.
But for me, I like the iPhone for apps, not for a
phone.
I like the simplicity of a flip phone.
But if folks feel they cannot learn to use a touch
screen, or just like me, prefer a flip phone, I get that.
But I find it hard to accept that some folks cannot
use a touch screen, unless they have other disabilities other than
physical.
But we are all different, and I look forward to
always having options.

There might, also, be a difference between flip phones, and flip phones with buttons. There are also people, as am I, who prefer to use phones with orthodox buttons, rather than those with touch screens. Too often, we blind people, and otherwise challenged people, who forget there might be people who are unable, for whatever reason, to use touch screens. Are such people second class citizens?

That is if this the business run by Laz. Maybe I'm wrong and Laz has nothing to do with AT Guys, and I was wrong, then if so, please excuse the mistake. But I still would not buy a phone or other device made for the Blind when there are better options. Glenn

Also it seems that NVDA navigates more smoothly in iTunes if compared with
JAWS. I tried backing up my iPhone using JAWS on iTunes and it is not as smooth
tabbing around the menu compared to if using NVDA.

Hi,
I won't do business with those people.
Also, I believe that is that over priced
under-powered phone, that is marketed to the Blind, and like all other specialty
products for the Blind, it uses out-dated technology at a premium
price.
Thank you for responding though, I do appreciate
all information that I can look into for a new phone.

I found the same issue on my Mac with Safari, but was able to use the accessible page with Firefox. So, perhaps changing browsers will help.

I haven't tried the page with NVDA, but I just tried to read Verizon's page of accessible phones, and it constantly brings up a chat window for chatting with a sales person, and I'm just trying to read the page. I cannot even go back, I can only close that tab and re-open it, and I can't get more than a line read about their phones. Anyone have recommendations on talking flip phones? BTW, finally, when I was put into a chat window I didn't like, I took that opportunity to type in a complaint about their page with a screenreader. Isn't that ironic?

Re: Question about how too clear out the catch using the google chrome browser?
Bill White
Hi, Albert, It's always been and is now, CONTROL plus SHIFT plus DELETE, while in Chrome. Just let the page open, and clear Browsing data, and all else you want cleared.

OT Flip Phone
Glenn / Lenny
Hi, since this is OT, please respond just to me
instead of the list if you can.
I have a Kyrosera flip phone, and I want to get a
new flip phone.
I'm using Verizon, but I may switch if Verizon does
not have a good phone.
The voice on mine sucks and it makes it hard to
use.
Thanks for any recommendations.

Re: question about activating links in a Word document
Curtis Chong
My strategy is to activate the context menu on the link with shift+f10 and then arrow down to open link. Then, I press Enter. This works every time.

Right now when I try and do this the only thing that happens is that a blank line gets placed in the document. If there isn't then that's fine I'm simply curious that's all.
