By resetting Chrome do you mean close and re-open? Or do you mean uninstall and re-install? I am not familiar with a reset. Sorry.

Can you try to reset chrome and try again? Let's eliminate the problem don't lies on the profile of chrome. type in %localappdata%\google You should find a folder call chrome, rename that folder to something like chrome.bak Before you do those changes, make sure chrome is close. After you rename the folder, reopen chrome, and it should start the profile creation all over again.
Surf the net as what you would and see if the problem still persists?

Hi.
If you’re using Windows 10, hit the Windows key to bring up where you can type something. Start typing notification, and it will be what you want to select.
Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

Hi, Kevin. That's because it's not in Outlook Settings.
1. Go to Windows Settings (Windows key plus I). 2. Press ENTER on System. 3. TAB once, find the category called Notifications and Actions, and press ENTER. 4. Turn off notifications for Outlook. That will stop the notification from JAWS.

Bill Thanks! That took care of the noise. Yet Jaws says new notification, what is on the subject line and the email it comes from. I couldn’t find anything in Outlook settings to stop that from happening. Cheers, Kevin

Hello, I’m using the most recent versions of windows10, Outlook 2016 and Jaws 2021. I know there is a setting in Jaws to turn off the alert when an email arrives in the inbox. I couldn’t find that setting. Where would it be located as I want to turn it off. Also when I go into an email, Jaws automatically reads the first line and then repeats it again. Is there a way to stop that from occurring? Thanks, Kevin

I've noticed, that when I read by word in Microsoft word, that JAWS sometimes doesn't read.
The cursor will move, but it will not say anything. When I read Character by Character it works fine.
Why is that?
Thanks,
Justin

Actually, when Lee Anne did a "Title" command, she said that JAWS only said, "Title is". That shows that nothing was in focus.

Hi,
It just happened again. I used JAWS-T and heard the "title is…. I tried to navigate using H for headings and just heard "h" I tried ALT-tab to switch programs. Again I could not navigate by headings, which I am confident are present. I refreshed the page with no change. After I unloaded and re-loaded JAWS it behaved normally. I am using the most recent Chrome browser and JAWS 21 on a Win10 laptop.

I wonder if it is JAWS not detecting that Chrome is in focus? When it next happens, please someone do a JAWS Key and T and tell us what it reports. I’ll do the same if it happens to me.

I don't know what is advised earlier, but when you could not do anything: try to press the tabkey. Sometimes the focus is not in the webpage and with tab you will land in the page. Or f6 several times is also a option. This will work for me sometimes. I sometimes press f6, then the num-plus to see if the virtual pc cursor is active and if not: I press f6 again. Kind regards, Marten

Try to press F5 to refresh the page. You may also want to give Edge a try, it's very much like Chrome, but the Immersive Reader feature alone makes it a better browser for visually impaired users in my opinion.

Hi,
Sorry to join this thread a bit late. I too have experienced problems with JAWS interacting with Chrome. The arrow keys work fine to navigate the page but any of the other keys like the number 2 or letter h does not work. My only fix is to close and restart JAWS. Annoying? Yes. In the grand scheme of life this is fairly minor. Although a reliable fix wouldn't hurt!😊
Have a good day,
