MaxxAudio?  What exactly is that?  I know there were problems with it, I think however, I don’t know what the problems were exactly.  Oh, it has 3 USB ports and a SD slot apparently.  This means I will not have to use a USB/SD converter. To think all of this was started because someone was selling a used laptop with 500 G SSD and 16 G RAM for $420.00  Only problem was with the conversion from U S dollars to CAD and the percentage Pay Pal takes and shipping and handling, when the bill came in, it was $685.60.  Visa flagged it as fraudulent thus block the payment from going through.

How long has this been going, and when did it start? Also, was there any kind of system change or software install which occurred coincident with the problem arising?

This kind of problem should be taken up with Microsoft’s Disability Answer Desk at 800-936-5900. They seem to be doing a fairly good job these days.

whereas, all replies use to go to the In Box.

Does anyone have any ideas of what’s going on here and how to make all replies to his messages go to the In Box like there suppose to?

All help is greatly appreciated!  Thanks mooy moocho.

I’m not sure about the “mail” interruption you describe. But I’m hoping this tip might help with searching in Excel.

  1. Press Control + F and type what you want to find.
  2. Press Enter to start the search.
  3. Press Escape to exit the Find box and be placed on the cell with the first find result.
  4. Press F4 to be placed on the cell with the next result, or Shift + F4 to move to the previous.

Hello, I’m using the most recent versions of windows10, Office 2016 and Jaws2021. I will be doing a search in Excel using control F. After a few times of pressing the enter key to move to the next find, I’m put into a window that says mail. I have to do a alt tab to get back into the Excel window and it is still on the search function. Why would I be pushed out of the Excel window? What is the window that says mail? I cannot arrow up and down or tab. I go into Jaws cursor and there is nothing on the screen. There are times the same thing happens in Outlook of suddenly being pushed to a window that just says mail. Thanks, Kevin

Howdy,

Since this is a list for JAWS users, I thought I’d ask the following.

Has anyone heard of a program called Ear Master Pro? It is a music program that has to do with music theory training. There are various classes, exercises, and workshops within the program that one can do. I downloaded the free version to see how well it would work with JAWS.

I first tried it using my computer with JAWS, and it did not work at all. This was using the latest JAWS version with Windows 10. My guess is that it is super graphic oriented, which surprises me, since so many of the things it does are related to listening.

I then tried it on my iPad and iPhone using VoiceOver, and I got much farther into it and playing demos, but when it was time to do the lessons or exercises, nothing would happen. It would just go back to the home screen.

The program and app doesn’t seem to like screen reading software, like JAWS or even Narrator. However, before jumping the gun and complaining to the makers of the software, I thought I’d ask if anyone on the list has used it and if it has worked for you. I do know that visually, there is a lot on the screen, including menus and other things. So, it’s just JAWS that doesn’t read a single thing, except for the title of the program.

Thanks much.

Jim

Outlook 2010 has been out of support for a long time and needs to be updated. People really have to specify if they use such old software and I for one won't even attempt to reply or help because it's pointless. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's no different from somebody who is trying to use Jaws 16 or 17 or even Jaws 18 with the latest Windows 10 build.

I am actually glad Microsoft is setting such a relatively high standard for Windows 11, hopefully you can't even install things like Office 2007, 2010 or 2013 on such a computer any more and we know people who have a Windows 11 computer will need Jaws 2022 or whatever latest version of NVDA so this should really help in getting people up to speed. Falling or staying behind for so many years is not worth it.

Actually Windows X and Power Options has nothing at all to do with shutdown options, it simply puts you into the settings for power management like when the computer turns off the screen when plugged in or on battery, when to go to sleep etc.
The Windows Key + X menu has a "Shutdown and Sign Out" menu which was mentioned, Windows Key + X followed by U and it is the same menu you get if you press Windows Key + M and then Alt + F4.

You press Windows Key or, if you prefer, Control + Escape, then press tab once and then arrow down to the bottom of that list and you will find Power which contains the commands to sign out, sleep, restart and shutdown.
But as I said many times, it is much easier to either press Windows Key + M to minimize to the desktop and then Alt + F4 or Windows Key + X followed by U both methods get you to the same Power menu.

Hi.

If the laptop has Windows 10 on it, CTRL+ESC  won't bring up a shutdown
menu.

To shut down a Windows 10 laptop, do the following.

Hit WINDOWS+D to get to the desktop.

Press ALT+F4 to get to the shutdown options.

Hope this helps.

Out of curiosity, which Dell are you getting? What is the processor, how much ram, and all of the other usual questions? If you want to know if this is happening, just keep your resource monitor open on the memory tab, and you'll know in a few hours. Your memory usage will clime so fast you can almost count with it.

This works fine in short documents, but in a long one, bringing back spellchecker gets cumbersome and time-consuming. Lee Anne’s suggestion is more practical in such cases. In previous versions of Word, there was an edit field option. I’m happy that she’s found a substitute, which I myself will start using.

Curtis and list,

This works fine in short documents, but in a long one, bringing back spellchecker gets cumbersome and time-consuming. Lee Anne’s suggestion is more practical in such cases. In previous versions of Word, there was an edit field option. I’m happy that she’s found a substitute, which I myself will start using.

Hello:

Press Escape to leave spell check. Fix the word manually, then press F7 again to continue.

Kind regards,

Hi everyone,

I’m using Windows 10, latest version of JAWS, and MS Home and Student 2019. I’m trying to spell check a large document. If a word is spelled wrong, and none of the choices are what I want, but I find the correct spelling of the word, how do I enter it, myself, without getting out of spell check? I’m having trouble with this. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Shirley,

After you tab down to the suggested list and your word is not there, I find I can shift-tab back up to the misspelled word.  The focus is at the end of the word.   I use insert-left arrow, which places the cursor at the beginning of the misspelled word.  I can type the correct word, space once and use ctrl-del to delete the misspelled word.  Hit ALT-C to make the change.   Spell checker moves on to the next error.

David,

From what I've seen from JAWS, who finally reported the problem a few weeks ago, not everyone has this problem. If you do have the problem, it's an easy fix. The only thing I don't like about it is that JAWS doesn't sound as good through the laptop's internal speakers after the change in drivers.

Out of curiosity, which Dell are you getting? What is the processor, how much ram, and all of the other usual questions? If you want to know if this is happening, just keep your resource monitor open on the memory tab, and you'll know in a few hours. Your memory usage will clime so fast you can almost count with it.
