Hi,

When I am reading a Google Doc, JAWS says comment start, followed by
the text on which a comment has been made and then comment end. Is
there a keystroke to get to the text of the comment when the cursor is
on the text to which the comment relates?

Essentially a keystroke similar to alt+r followed by n that does this
job in Word. Being able to view comments by and by in this way while
reading a document would be very helpful.

I know of the alt+control+shift+a keystroke to open the full list of
comments, but that is quite an inconvenient way to interact with
comments.

Warmly,
Rahul

The media tool was for win 10 and the win 11 install was an iso from MS. It did all the updates before starting the install. Whitch is standard practice now.

yes that's correct. But at this point in time most people don't have any use for legacy mode. And I did have to enable secure boot and tPM. But what's weird is after I turned off legacy mode and turned on the Otother two options. my computer boots in about 10 seconds. It is way faster. before I made those three changes it was taking almost a minute to boot and I was really disappointed with the boot speeds after they replace the motherboard that was defective. but now it's awesome! I'm not sure why this is. Other than Legacy mode is just slow.

Hi, I was having a lot of issues with my win 10 and needed to reinstall.
But I decided to turn off legacy mode in the Bios and enable secure boot and TPM. Did a clean install of windows 11 insider preview and so far all is good! Settings are way different but in some ways better. After some time I think it will be better than win 10. i

will update if I have any major issues.

Greetings:

Not all browsers behave identically. It is certainly more than a simple question of branding. I myself often toggle between Microsoft Edge (Chromium) or Google Chrome with occasional forays into Mozilla Firefox. On my system, Firefox seems to have a problem if, for example, I bring up a list of 600 books in BARD with all of the books displayed on a single page. Google Chrome loads a bit more quickly. Microsoft Edge often generates these verbal alerts telling me that the page is still downloading. Google Chrome does not do this nor does Firefox.

In the end, it all comes down to which performance characteristics you, the user, find helpful and which ones you don’t. Since I do a lot with Google Workspace and Google Meets, Chrome is my “go to” for most (but not all) things.

Kind regards,

Hi,

All three are Chromium-based browsers, Google Chrome included. The differences lies in branding, purpose, and features they add on top of base Chromium code – Chrome and Edge are optimized for services from Google and Microsoft, respectively.

Cheers,

That would be correct.  A fresh (and you do need fresh) copy of the Media Creation Tool (MCT) will actually bear the name of the Version of Windows it builds the ISO for as part of it's name.  I note in several of my tutorials:  "The naming convention for the tool is MediaCreationTool9999.exe, where the 9999 will actually be the Windows 10 Version number for which media will be fetched."

And I always encourage anyone who may happen to have a Windows 10 ISO that the downloaded, even for the current version, one month or more ago to get a fresh copy using the MCT if they need to use it again.  The components used to create the ISO file are updated on a regular basis, and it actually saves you at least some download time (if you choose to download recent updates as part of your install) because fewer of those updates will not already be part and parcel of the ISO as built.

And instead of changing the keystroke you can always add a new one for the same function, instructions on how to change a keystroke were already given, adding one is the same, find the function you want in the keyboard manager and instead of selecting "Change keystroke" select "Add keystroke" and a duplicate record of the function will be created and you can assign a second key combination.

If Jaws locks up for some reason the first keystroke you should try is the Jaws restart command which first unloads Jaws and then reloads it. The fact Jaws is gone does not necessarily mean it has completely unloaded so this is always my first option.

The keyboard shortcut is Jaws Key + Windows Key + F4, if you try this in a normal place like when Jaws is running and you are on the desktop or whatever you will find that after about 8 or 10 seconds Jaws restarts. If Jaws has locked up I usually give it at least 20 or 25 seconds to see if it sorts itself out, if not then you can manually reload Jaws.

Is there a way that I can reset JAWS so that it can just startup without having to resort to the desktop icon?

Is there a way that I can reset JAWS so that it can just startup without having to resort to the desktop icon?

Why would you want to create a hotkey for a hotkey?

That JAWS plus Windows key plus F4 is a real hand key. Is there a way to creat a hot key for that or will provoking it just restart JAWS? I did try it and it works.

And both SecureBoot and TPM are listed as requirements for Windows 11 so it would seem obvious that both should be enabled and this is exactly the reason why for the first time Microsoft has set out such relatively strict requirements when Windows 11 is released to the public, if you don't have SecureBoost enabled or if you don't have TPM or if your BIOS runs in legacy mode instead of UEFI or if your chip is not new enough Windows 11 will not install.

You can also use the Sticky Key feature or change the keystroke, and  if you don't want to use the Sticky Key feature use the steps below to change the keystroke to one that's more accessible for you.
How to change the Jaws Dump and restart keystroke.

The default keystroke is, Insert, Windows key, + F4, & I'm going  to use , Insert, Control, + T, as the example for changing this keystroke.

1. Open the keyboard manager with the keystroke, Insert + F2 & arrow down to Keyboard Manager & press enter.

2. Press, control, shift, + D, for the default Jaws keystroke manager.

3. You are on default so, tab 1 time to get into the full keystroke list.  Now, type the letters, J, A, W, S, & M, and you should land on,
JAWSMemDmp               Windows+JAWSKey+F4       default             Common

4. Open the menu bar with the, Alt key, right arrow to, Action, down arrow to, Change keystroke, & press enter.

5. Inportant: Do not type / invoke any other key or keystroke other than the 1 you want to use!  Press / invoke, the keystroke you want to use.  This means
don't type it but press the actual keystroke you'll want to use for this function.

6. Tab to the checkbox, apply to desktop keys only, & uncheck this box, tab to okay & press enter.  You'll get a message asking you if you're sure you
want to do this so, tab & press enter on, yes.

Stay safe & take care.  Mike.
Just once, I want a username and password prompt to say:  "Close Enough!"

Change the keyboard layout in jaws to laptop. This will allow you to use the caps lock key as a jaws key also. Nothing else changes that I can tell. 9/4/2021 5:10 PM, clarence carter via groups.io wrote:
