There is no need to install Edge if you use the 21H1 media creation tool, it already installs Edge and at best Edge would update after everything is done.

You can press Jaws Key + Control + V twice quickly and the version will already be in the virtual viewer where you can press Control + A to select all and then Control + C to copy.

Jaws will speak the version.

If you cannot remember it and want to copy it exactly, after Jaws speaks it, press insert+spacebar, then h for speech history.

Arrow up once or twice then back down and you should hear the last thing in the speech history as the Firefox version number, then use shift+down arrow to select it and then control+c to copy and Control+v to paste.

If Jaws locks up for some reason the first keystroke you should try is the Jaws restart command which first unloads Jaws and then reloads it. The fact Jaws is gone does not necessarily mean it has completely unloaded so this is always my first option.

The keyboard shortcut is Jaws Key + Windows Key + F4, if you try this in a normal place like when Jaws is running and you are on the desktop or whatever you will find that after about 8 or 10 seconds Jaws restarts. If Jaws has locked up I usually give it at least 20 or 25 seconds to see if it sorts itself out, if not then you can manually reload Jaws.

Hi, Madison. The best way I know to prevent this behavior is,

1. Open Windows Settings with Windows key plus I.
2. TAB to the settings categories, and Right Arrow to Devices, and press
ENTER.
3. TAB to Devices categories, arrow down to Autoplay, and press ENTER.
4. TAB to Choose AutoPlay defaults, Removable drive Combo box, and arrow up
to "Do nothing", and press ENTER.

The down side to this is that, when you plug in your drive, you will need to
use Windows key plus E to go to Windows Explorer, and navigate to your
stick. It won't come up automatically this way.

Press JAWS + Control+ V (for Victor) twice quickly from within Firefox. This will present the version information in the virtual viewer so you can copy it using standard text editing commands.

I also have a USB stick permanently inserted into my desktop which acts as an additional drive. Windows 10 wanted to regularly scan  the new Sandisk 32 gb stick for errors only after about a month. The Sandisk was replaced with a Samsung 32 gb stick and it has been working without problems for nearly 12 months.

As others have suggested, it would be worth doing a few tests with other ports and sticks prior to replacing the stick.

Cheers

If that's something you're willing and able to do, it's the very best
way to get a known clean baseline of Windows 10 to start from.

If you have too much time invested in having added programs and have
lots of data, you could consider this before a nuke & pave: */Doing a
Windows 10 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows 10 ISO
file/*

Using the ISO file method gets you as close to a completely clean
install as you can get without taking "the thermonuclear option" first.

The most obvious reason I can think of for such behavior is that it is losing and then regaining connection.  I'd unplug it and try it in a different port just as a test.  I'd then try using a different stick as another test.  If it happens with another stick, something in your version of windows has changed and you'll have to work on it, if another stick works fine, then I wouldn't trust the first one anymore.

Hello,
I'm not sure what you are asking here. Are you wanting a specific version of Firefox for your computer? Generally, Firefox will automatically upgrade about every 6 weeks.
There are ways to reduce this or prevent automatic updates, and there are also ways to download a specific version of Firefox though generally, I would recommend against doing that.

Well It seems downgrading

from an insider build a while back corrupted my system. Now I have the same Windows security settings you described. And things are back to what I am used to. But Edge blocked a download from my One drive account... Hopefully that is not a sign of what is to come.

It would take longer to get a hold of them than it will to do this. I have got it down to a 30 minute procedure. I much prefer a clean install when windows starts having unexplained random glitches.

Hi,

Before you go to the bother of reinstalling Windows, you should definitely call the Microsoft Disability Answer Desk and have them try and fix it.
