moderated need help with a groups.io account

Hello. I’ve set up an account with groups.io and I have some questions.

It lists me as the owner. I need to change the email associated with that account, but have no idea what the password is or how to change it.

I need to add a moderator to the account.

Lastly, can I change the fact that after new members are added they have to send 2 messages before they are taken off of moderated status.

Sorry for all of the questions, but I’m new to all of this. I’ve checked the help section, but I can’t find anything to help me out. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

OK – You have prompted me to report it as a problem to support again as it is obviously not a problem local to my machines.

I suspected that it was not a local problem as it appears on three different machines here.

It is annoying that it gets fixed for one update but then immediately broken again though in the next.

Yes, that’s the most part. I’ve had a few other things happen, but you listed the worst. And I agree, it was fixed a few months ago but suddenly started misbehaving again.

You don’t specify the problem but if you mean that Windows Mail crashes unexpectedly  and sporadically whilst Jaws is running I  have had this problem for months on one Desktop and 2 laptop machines.

I reported this to VFO and they fixed it for one Jaws release but apparently they broke it again in the next Jaws update as the problem has now re-appeared and has existed for several months  again here.

Specifically Mail closes without any error message, often after you have deleted a message from the inbox. This is annoying as if you are working through mail and pressing the delete key I often ended up deleting other items, such as documents in an open file explorer Window or even a desktop shortcut by mistake as I would not be aware that Mail has crashed.

This problem got so bad that I changed delete behaviour on my machines to ensure I had to confirm deletion so that I became more aware of when Mail crashes with Jaws.

Nowadays though, unless I forget I simply use NVDA or Narrator with Mail and the program is rock solid with those screenreaders and never crashes.

 

Increasingly I find I have to use multiple screenreaders. NVDA is very sluggish with Outlook, Jaws is a bit better, but Narrator is lightning fast so that is often my screenreader of choice with Outlook now.

moderated downloading jfw books fs-reader 3.05

hi list,

Michelle Stevens here,

I am having problems downloading daisy books book on fs-reader 3.05.

I am clicking extra resources From the table of contents in reader
I am going to jaws training main page selecting the jaws training book I want downloading it.

It does not show up in the fs table of contents.
i have even gone to control o to open books gone to my downloads folder but us still does not download the book to be read.

Looking at the file extention it says exe does it need a mcc or sonething else to work in fs-reader?

I am running jaws latest version
64 bit latest windows 10

There is a place in Options where you can turn off the prompt. I never turned on the setting to automatically delete when exiting, but in my view it doesn't really make sense that if you turn this on you should also be prompted if you want to do this. Of course if you had it turned on before and it worked that way then maybe the prompt to ask for confirmation got turned off. You can check it by going into Options > Advanced and since it's towards the end of the many items it's easier if you press Shift + Tab, the first time you end up on Cancel, the second time on OK, after that press Shift + Tab 7 more times and you hear "Prompt for confirmation before permanently deleting items check box not checked"

Of course this is what it says for me since I don't want to be asked if I want to delete something from Deleted Items, if yours says "Checked" then obviously this doesn't apply to the automatic emptying of the deleted items folder.

This is a 7th Gen I3 CPU, but as it's an I3 meaning a low-end Intel CPU it may not be compatible.

In addition to the processor requirement you also have to check if your BIOS has SecureBoost and whether it is enabled and whether your system has a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) and that it is Version 2.0.

The Secure Boost setting you can find in System Information and the TPM module information you can check either by typing tpm.msc into the Run dialogue or, a bit easier, by going to Device Manager and them look for "Security Devices", expand it and see what it says, it should say "Trusted Platform Module 2.0".

Apart from that either run the new PC Health Check tool if available yet or just wait and see whether Windows 11 is offered to you in October or November.

I have started to use Google Chrome as my web browser. When I go on a web site that has a password I need, it comes back asking if I want to save that password for future use. I want to say yes, but I never seem to get options I can do with the keyboard. When this happens, is there a key stroke to accept, or can I reject with another one?
It would be good to save some of my passwords on sites I use a lot.

Hello List,

I am having some issues with my Jaws and my Focus 40 braille display that connects via USb. Braille is not showing up. I checked the settings, and the focus 40 is checks as the default.

Also, I got this error message when I boot up my laptop.

The code execution cannot proceed because mfc120.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

Any thoughts on how to fix both.

What processor do you have? I understand that there has been a slight revision and that a few versions of 7th Gen Intel processors are now supported, but most are not and certainly not any 6th Gen processors and no changes with AMD.

I was just thinking that it’s a piece of Microsoft software, so they could say if one or the other is more accurate, but you are right, of course, it doesn’t matter unless the person wants to plan on buying a new computer if their computer isn’t going to work with Windows 11 … and that would not be me, but there you go.

There's nothing the end user can (or should) do.  In the age of Windows as a service, Windows itself is going to determine the next update step.

Hi, Tom. After logging into a website, and receiving the "save password" prompt, and pressing F6, you should land on the "save" button. Unfortunately, there is no quick way to save the password, such as ALT plus S in Google Chrome that I have found. You must press space or Enter on the save button to get the password to save. Then, if you have a gmail or Google account, it may ask you if you want to save your passwords in your Google account. You must then choose where to save the password, on the local machine, or in your Google account.

It was that isn’t it it has to do with certain things showing or not I just don’t remember how to get to that setting.
