Does Jaws 2021, still use the command keystrokes for paste special?
Albert Cutolo
Good afternoon everyone,
I think that in older versions of Jaws, their was something called paste special which allowed you too be able too copy the contents of a link in to a word document. In the latest version of jaws, is this keystroke still available, or has what I’m referring too, lo longer used?

Money Talks does indeed work just fine in Windows 10. As a checkbook register, it does a beautiful job. I am an enthusiastic supporter of the program. I myself am managing at least three separate registers with Money Talks. Terrific program. Works great with JAWS. Very truly yours, Curtis Chong

You have to also check start jaws after logon and in the combo box for this user, make sure it says always.

I don't use dropbox in thirds like over 3 GB of data one big zip file mostly I
let people pick and choose what they want. You can copy the whole folder at once
so you don't have to go in and download the files individually. Randy Barnett

Hi Randy
I'm with you there. The only thing I do is shut JAWS down and restart. I suspect its a memory issue. Haven't tried Narrator I must admit and I agree, its very frustrating. I'm sure Freedom Scientific must be aware of this issue. -- Mark Fisher Manager - People Systems Water Corporation

MAWS Settings
Ryan Bondroff <deafblindadvocate@...>
Hi,
This is ryan, I have new JAWS software setup in my work laptop.
I was trying to change the braille code under translations setting section of the Braille settings and I accidently chose another language instead of English under the output part so I cannot figure how to change back to English US even though the translation shows English US as default but it still shows another language for output so how do I get it fixed back to English US? Any h help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Excel Slowing Down When Editing Formulas
Randy Meyer
I am using latest version of Jaws 2021, latest Office 365 downloaded onto my computer, and Windows 10. After I enter a few formulas, Jaws slows down to a glacial speaking pace when editing any formulas. When arrowing left and right in a formula, Jaws will take at least a second before reading the next character. If I hit the arrow key repeatedly, Jaws takes a longtime to catch up. The same behavior happens if I use control arrow in the formula.
It makes editing Excel formulas with Jaws impossible. The problem goes away if I switch to Narrator, but Narrator is verbose, and I don’t want to learn how to use it in place of Jaws.
This behavior is happening on my main desktop computer, and has been for over a year. It does not happen when performing the same tasks within Excel on my ElBraille. I reviewed all Excel setting options on both machines, and set them all the same, to make sure there wasn’t an Excel setting causing the issue.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this long standing issue?

Hi Phillip!
I have heard that QuickBooks *online* is fairly accessible, but it costs money on a sliding scale based on your needs. Also, see the below link to “Wave,” which is likewise reputed to be accessible. I have not tried either. However, Wave is free for basic needs, and then costs money on a sliding scale too.

For various reasons, I dislike QB. Soon, I am going to try Wave. For a number of reasons, I am drawn to it.

I have a small business and do my bookkeeping in Excel. I would like to start using some accounting software instead, but I have heard that QuickBooks, which I would have tried first, has some accessibility issues. Is this true, and, if so, what have people on the list found works well with JAWS?

Re: accounting program
Sieghard Weitzel <sieghard@...>
You should look into QuickBooks Online, but this of course does come with a monthly subscription cost. Intuit has put some effort into improving the accessibility o f QuickBooks Online and it's certainly useable. I am using it for my retail business although I must admit that while I started using it at the beginning of the year I have not yet had time to get myself trained on it. I will very shortly get some help from my accountant because my requirements are a bit more complex than those of some other small businesses. For now my accountant has set up the integration between my point of sale system and QuickBooks Online so every day a lot of information is dumped into QuickBooks from the POS system, but I still have to do some manual work like properly assigning taxes to my supplier invoices which QuickBooks gets from the purchase orders we enter in our POS system and I have to deal with payroll entries and so on. Then there is of course bank reconciliation and recording supplier payments and tax payments. My bank account and business Visa are also connected to QuickBooks so all transactions are already there and just have to be reviewed and posted correctly. I used Sage 50 for over 20 years and it was never connected to either my POS system or bank so I did all entries manually and while I could use Sage just fine for what I needed I would not say it is fully accessible. I just knew either how many times I had to tab on the home screen to get into a certain module (nothing rads on the home screen) or I would know work-arounds for other issues. There are also some other online systems, but not sure where you are and if they are available. In Canada there is Wave Accounting which is also strictly an online system and I know some small businesses which use it. QuickBooks Online is nice in that you can invite your accountant to have access so when year-end and such comes around they can simply log in and do what they need to do.

Help With OpenText and JAWS - SmartView and ClassicView and Brava
Mark Fisher
Hi Everyone - Happy Hump Day
Does anyone have experience in using JAWS with OpenText document management system? Whilst the Enterprise Connect component is reasonably accessible, the way we've done some aspects of SmarView means I can't get to certain float over menus to activate a number of options which are not available in the Enteprise Connect portion. I also find these issues in the Classic View portion. Also, wen reading documents with Brava within the OpenText framework, spaces between words are spoken as "Graphic" by JAWS. I'm running the latest version of JAWS I'd love to here from anyone else about any tips and tricks they have used including whether they had to get custom scripts written. I am also reaching out to OpenText. -- Mark Fisher Manager - People Systems Water Corporation
