Hello:

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this group. My name is
Betina, and I am a piano teacher living in the United States.
I have a question regarding program uninstallers.
Do any of you know a program uninstaller that works well with JAWS? I
am using the latest version of the JAWS home annual license.
Thank you for your time.

I just tested the command and it brought up the list of drivers, two for my Cannon LIDE 110 and 1 for my wife's Brother all-in-one on our home network. I pick the twain driver for my Cannon LIDE 110 and it works fine.

If the scanner isn't showing up, then a reboot should fix it.

Or, reach out to Tech support to see if there is a specific setting in Windows you need to do.

Hi Mario,

The scanner needs to have a TWAIN Driver. But having said that, I have a Plustek A320L that is TWAIN Compatible but it does not work with Convenient OCR.

Thank you for that example, that's what I needed.

Unfortunately, turning of the virtual cursor totally by-passes the expandable buttons dropdown for mail service selection.

I've never tried to work without the virtual cursor, thus the request for clarification.

Nothing much to clarify, just in some cases I can do things with the virtual cursor turned off which I can't do when it's turned on.
One example was with my previous bank's online business tax filing service. I have a retail business and have to submit monthly GST (a federal tax here in Canada) as well as PST (provincial sales tax to the provincial government). The first step is to select the account the money should come from, in this case my business chequing account. This is a combo box, but with the virtual cursor turned on opening the combo box either by pressing enter or Alt + Page Down seems to open it, but I can't select anything and Jaws does not speak my accounts. If I turn the virtual cursor off and tab a few times to get to that combo box I can then arrow down and select my chequing account, after that I turn the virtual cursor back on and all is well.

So sorry, I know better.

Jaws 21.2107.12
Windows 10 version H2OS Build 1942.1165
Google Chrome is running the latest version, as there is no menu showing, since it updates itself.

I've worked and am familiar with routing to Jaws cursor or routing Jaws to PC, but am not familiar with navigating with virtual cursor turned off, the pros and such.

Please clarify.

Thanks.

Have you tried turning off the virtual cursor and tabbing until you find the list? It is always good as well to give full details, e.g. version of Windows, version of Jaws as well as the browser and which version you are using.

Hi, All,

As I have done for years, I logged onto the USPS site, Click 'Not Ship, preparing to mail a package, only to find, now, that I was unable to select my mail service preference.

The dropdown is not a combo box, but an expandable buttons list. The list expands, I can get to my selection, but pressing enter or spacebar does nothing. Simply tabbing away from it takes me near the top of the page.

I have Windows 10 and the latest Jaws 21 update.

I'm wondering if this is a problem with the site, or if there is something else I can do with Jaws that I haven't yet learned.

Thanks a ton for your help and advice.

Installing or updating JAWS over a metered connection is not a very good thing to do, given how large the program is. The assumption is that the user is on an Internet connection with no data limits.

Hi good people:
I downloaded the latest version of the JAWS screen reader for my
windows10 laptop computer, but I am unable to install it.
When I attempted the installation, it didn't install. Instead it cleared off all my remainingg mobile data, about 300MB.
Please what went wrong: what can I do to fix the problem, and do I need to install another program before installing this new update of JAWS.
i KNOW THAT WITH MUCH OLDER VERSIONS, ONE HAS TO INSTALL THE FSreader before installing JAWS.
Hope to read your response asap.
Warm regards.
Ibrahim.

Dear Members,

My name is Roanna Bacchus, and I am visually impaired. I have been totally blind since birth due to Retinopathy Of Prematurity. I attended the Early Intervention program at the Perkins School For The Blind. I use Jaws For Windows at work on a daily basis. I work at Lighthouse Works as a Customer Care Professional taking calls from those who are unemployed. I look forward to getting to know all of you on this list.

I’ve worked and am familiar with routing to Jaws cursor or routing Jaws to PC, but am not familiar with navigating with virtual cursor turned off, the pros and such.

Please clarify.

Thanks.

Judy

Have you tried turning off the virtual cursor and tabbing until you find the list? It is always good as well to give full details, e.g. version of Windows, version of Jaws as well as the browser and which version you are using.

Subject: Problem on USPS Click 'N Ship, selecting mail service.

Hi, All,

As I have done for years, I logged onto the USPS site, Click ‘N Ship, preparing to mail a package, only to find, now, that I was unable to select my mail service preference.

The dropdown is not a combo box, but an expandable buttons list.  The list expands, I can get to my selection, but pressing enter or spacebar does nothing.  Simply tabbing away from it takes me near the top of the page.

I have Windows 10 and the latest Jaws 21 update.

I’m wondering if this is a problem with the site, or if there is something else I can do with Jaws that I haven’t yet learned.

Thanks a ton for your help and advice.

Judy
