Hi, Dave. In steps 10 and 11, for me, in step 10, if I tab, I get an OK button, not an Apply button. In step 11, if I tab to the OK button, and press Space or Enter, it automatically closes Settings Center, so there is no need to use ALT plus F4.

Re: Outlook cuts off some of the words on a line.

Hi, Albert and Richard. JAWS does not substitute the words block quote for the html code by mistake. This is an indication that a block quote is being read. A block quote is a section of text that is being quoted, and is indented about three spaces both on the left and on the right side of the text. If you want this turned off, you can do the following,
1. Open Outlook. 2. Press JAWS key plus the number six on the numbers row, to open JAWS Settings Center. 3. Arrow down to Web/Html/Pdf's closed, and press Right Arrow to open. 4. Arrow down to Reading, closed, and press Right Arrow to open. 5. Arrow down, and check which verbocity level is set for your configuration of Outlook. It will say either High, Medium, or Low. 6. Once you have found which verbocity level applies to your configuration of Outlook, proceed to step 7. 7. Arrow down to Configure Web Verbocity Levels, closed, and press Right Arrow to open. 8. Find the verbocity level that you need to change. It will be the one (High, Medium, or Low) from above, and press the SPACE BAR to open the configuration menu. 9. Find Block Quotation (it should be at or near the top of the list), and if it is checked, uncheck it. 10. TAB to the OK button, and press SPACE. 11. TAB to the second OK button and press SPACE.
Now that the Block Quote indication is turned off, you will not hear the words Block Quote when traversing a block quote. Note, however, that this is an indication of how text is formatted, and if you wish to know if you are on a block quote when this indicator is turned off, you will need to look at the beginning of a line and check if there are more spaces than usual to know if you are reading a block quote.

First, make sure the window is Maximized. Jaws substitutes the html code for a blockquote, with the words for some very confusing reason. Are you reading line by line, or with Say All? I have the same setup and have not experienced the cut off words. Also, make sure there isn't another program open with a dialog that could be overlapping somehow. Those are my best guesses.

Good evening everyone,
It seems that whenever I’m reading messages that are open in outlook with office 365, and latest jaws 2021, some of the words in a line that’s being supposed to be read, it seems that some of the words get cut off and I have too arrow down to complete the message that I’m reading. I do have the reading pane turned off. My question here is that, is there a setting that I need too change, and if so what is it, and how to I go about making that change. Sometimes, I also get a message that says block quote, or block quote end before the I’m able too start reading a message.

I am not sure what you are ordering because as I said, apart from the odd item which comes from a seller in the States GST and PST always apply to anything I order unless it is, for some reason, tax exempt like maybe some food staples and so on. And your message definitely very much sounded like you were saying a prime membership would get you items tax-free, you wrote:
I have a prime membership which pretty much makes paying taxes on purchases a non issue. No taxes are paid or shipping for that matter
The shipping part of course is clear and is outlined exactly on the Amazon Canada page where all the benefits are explained, but there is nothing which indicates that a prime membership " makes paying taxes on purchases a non issue":

Sieghard , I was not implying or meaning to imply that a Amazon prime membership allowed you not to pay taxes. Jus, I rarely have had to pay provincial or HST on any products I’ve purchased from Amazon. When ones purchases exceed $100 frequently, 12% taxes is $12 in taxes. That adds up.

Hi David,
I'm sorry, but what gives you the idea that an Amazon Prime membership means Amazon doesn't have to charge you taxes? I order a fair bit from Amazon since I live in a very small town where I often can't find the same selection as you get in the big city and I have a personal Amazon account with a prime membership as well as an Amazon business account with Amazon Business Prime and except in a few cases where the item comes from a seller outside of Canada and it is not veryt expensive 5% GST and 7% PST (I live in British Columbia) are always applied to every purchase.

Well, I had no idea sales tax was applied to the SMA in the United States. In Canada if you can prove you have a vision problem, registered with the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) you are tax exempt from the purchase of the SMA. As for Amazon, although not related, I have a prime membership which pretty much makes paying taxes on purchases a non issue. No taxes are paid or shipping for that matter unless I don’t listen to the prompt of shipping costs. There are times where the shipping cost is more then the actual item.

There are certain days, July 4, July 6, July 8 (I didn't check previous dates) where the headings for the counties are not there. But apart from that I had no problem with Jaws 2021 and Edge, each day/date is a heading level 3 which is also a link, Jaws did read one name for some of the dates if you didn't actually go into the details for that date, but apart from that pressing enter on the heading/link opened it up and as I said, on some days you can then use Heading Level 1 to go to the beginning of the section and heading level 3 to go to the different counties, from there simple arrow down and it reads the names.

Re: Questions re Logitech G815 keyboard
Marie Nelson
Thanks for the recommendation. I had been leaving the
keyboard sealed in the box so if I decided to return it to Best Buy, they could
put it back on the shelf since it would indeed still be in “new” condition. But
as I could not find the answers I was seeking, I pulled it out, plugged it in
and I want to say that I am delighted with it. It does have the context key
which I love and all the F keys are functioning as normal function keys and
there is no FN key whatsoever. In Addition the G keys to the left side are set
as f1 f2 f3 f4 and f5 for quick and easy access. The gaming keys are placed
above the function keys and just above the numpad, there are four small keys
which I believe are media keys.
The keys are only half the height of the regular mechanical keys and that
works better for me since my hands are pretty small and I like the lighter
touch. There is just enough click to make it nice.
It was $169 at Best Buy.

Subject: Re: Questions re Logitech G815 keyboard Since this is a wired keyboard I assume you are not looking for a wireless one and in this case I would highly recommend the Das Keyboard Professional 4 wired mechanical keyboard. You can get it with very tactile clicky Blue switches which to some may seem noisy, I find them just fine and very satisfying and I definitely prefer them over the Brown switches which are quieter and don't have the positive feedback. This is a no-nonsense beautifully crafted keyboard made from aluminum with 2 USB 3.0 ports on the back, a very nice and large volume knob and basic buttons for mute, Play/Pause and rewind and forward as well as a dedicated Sleep button which is, however, very flush and hard to find at first. What I like is the fact that it has a very traditional 104-key, IBM style keyboard layout with the 12 function keys with large gaps between F4 and F5 and F8 and F9, a very traditional 6-pack and cursor key T and that's it. No extra gaming keys and the function keys all work as they should out of the box and it's truly a plug and play keyboard with no software installation required, but it has updatable firmware. It has a Windows key on either side of the spacebar as well as an application key and the usual tactile dot on the F and J keys. The F and J dots on my keyboards have worn off quite a bit, but you can get replacement key caps from them as well. Here is the link to their website:

Re: After purchasing SMA?
David Diamond

Best regards, Sieghard

Well, I had no idea sales tax was applied to the SMA in the United States. In Canada if you can prove you have a vision problem, registered with the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) you are tax exempt from the purchase of the SMA. As for Amazon, although not related, I have a prime membership which pretty much makes paying taxes on purchases a non issue. No taxes are paid or shipping for that matter unless I don’t listen to the prompt of shipping costs. There are times where the shipping cost is more then the actual item.

I believe they are physically located in Florida. However, this does not matter. My zipcode is in Sacramento therefore I pay sales tax there. Amazon is out of Seattle I think but again I have to pay sales tax according to my zipcode. The state of Oregon has no sales tax so no taxes on purchased items unless they have a law for Internet purchased products.

Re: Excel Slowing Down Editing Formulas
Mario
when I experienced this about 6 months ago, for some reason (because I recalled a note), I pressed alt+dash which opened a context menu like when one presses alt+space bar, then arrowed to and entered on maximize. doing so also cleared up navigation and editing sluggishness issues.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I think in Excel, there are two windows to maximize, the main window and the working area.

From: Chris Hill [mailto:hillco@earthlink.net] Subject: Excel Slowing Down Editing Formulas Date: Friday, July 9, 2021, 3:33 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Hello. What happens if you just start typing in the cell, only necessary to hit f2 to edit current cell contents. About all I can suggest is make sure excel is maximized, and if it has been an age since you've done so, you might want to restart. On 7/9/2021 14:29, Randy Meyer wrote: When I hit F2 to edit a formula or cell in Excel, everything slows down. It takes a second to read a character when pressing left or right arrow. This is making editing in Excel extremely frustrating. I am using the latest version of JAWS and office 365 downloaded to my computer. Does anyone have any suggestion on an Excel setting or JAWS setting I should change? Randy Meyer .
