Just for a convenient, compact record, all three of the following commands seem to act as "throw focus to the address bar and select the web address for copying," across all web browsers:
  1. F6
  2. ALT+D
  3. CTRL+L

I recommend Alt + D as well, F6 and Alt + L also do this, but depending on the browser you may have to press F6 twice to get there as is the case in Edge.

I always used F6 just as I always used Control + Enter to send a message in Outlook, but once I started using Edge as my default browser I decided to get used to using Alt + D because I didn't feel like pressing F6 twice and I retrained myself the same way in Outlook to use Alt + S to send a message because quite some time ago I found that Control + Enter would not work consistently any more.

F6 also brings you to the address bar where the URL is already highlighted. This is universal for all web browsers.

Along with why one would want to do that, is Mattias asking if you can install voices in another drive as well?  That part of the question wasn’t clear; but the obvious answer is the voices go where FS needs them to go; which will be drive C along with the main program.

Jaws is complicated enough without adding another layer.

Hello there:

No version of JAWS for DOS nor, any version of JAWS for Windows has there ever been included an option as to where you can install JAWS. The company, under whatever it has been called, has always determined the directory/folder where JAWS is to b installed/located.

no, it's alt+d to focus to the address bar, and incidentally the address is automatically selected, and then control+c.

Hi, Guys.
How do I copy the address of a webpage to paste somewhere else? I know that Ins+a reads the address, but can't dust my mind's corners out to work out how to copy said address.

Thanks,
Dani

If you are wanting to copy a web address you can press ALT + D which will place you in the address bar.

If you are trying to copy a link off a web page, when you are on the link you can press ALT Shift + F10 to bring up the context Menu and arrow until you come to the menu item Copy Link.

no, insert+a makes JAWS read it. insert+ a twice puts the address into a virtual window, where you can review it slowly letter by letter or select and copy it to the clipboard. then press escape to close the window.

I know that Ctrl+c copies the text to the clipboard, but when the
Ins+a is performed and JFW reads the text, is it highlighted so it can
be copied, or is there another thing to do between Ins+a and Ctrl+c?

I just use the universal shortcut (in Firefox and every Chromium-based browser), CTRL+L, that throws focus to the address bar and selects its contents.  This is even true if you already happen to have focus there, but the content is not selected.  Followed by the good, old fashioned, CTRL+C to copy and you know you have it on your clipboard.

Hi Renette,

First thing I would try is to check F7 with another screenreader to find out if this is a JAWS problem or if it is a Word problem. Since you hadn't this problem by using an older JAWS Version this might be the new JAWS version which causes this problem but I would check this with another screenreader to be sure about this.

To use spell checking without crashing you could use the shortcut Alt+F7. This don't fixes the problem but maybe you can work with that till there's a solution. Alt+F7 is a Word hotkey that sets the focus to the next proofreading error and opens a context menu. In this context menu you find suggestions made by Word but you can also press ESC and change the found word by yourself.

You could also use the JAWS hot key Alt+Shift+L. This lists all found proofreading errors in a dialog. You can select one and JAWS will focus it in the Word document. You can always open the context menu to find some suggestions made by Word.

You might also use Quick Navigation Key to go to the prior and/or next proofreading error. I can't use this at this time on my Word but you might be successful, try it out. Turn Quick Navigation Key on by pressing JAWS+Y. To turn it off press the same shortcut again. Now you can use single keys to go to a special part of the document. The letter M sets the focus to the next proofreading error, Shift+M to the prior one.

Hope there's something you can use here. Good luck
Udo

So I am behind. I will go and read your update post after writing this, but I wanted to answer your question. I have worked in a call center before, and While the Bose would definitely work, I can see how they would feel bulky and maybe get in the way.

Okay, I had this issue too.

Press alt f for the file menu and arrow down until you hear Jaws say “options” and enter on it.

Arrow down to “mail”

Tab until you find the two checkboxes (sorry I can’t remember which one I had to uncheck to fix the issue), one that says “display an envelope icon in the taskbar” and “display a desktop notification when a message arrives,”, I’m sure I didn’t get the wording exact, but it’ll be similar

Once you’ve unchecked both options tab until you find the okay button and enter on it

Hope this helps!!!
