Hi Marty,

To find out if a JAWS setting is responsible for such a behavior you could activate the alternative User by pressing JAWS+Space, then Z. This temporarily turns off your settings to check if a setting is responsible for this. To go back to your normal user settings press the hot key again (JAWS+Space, Z).

If no setting entry causes this issue you could provide such a file with a cloud device so one can have a closer look at this.

Hello, I posted this question a while ago and this is still happening. I will type a line of text in a WORD document with a date such as "Saturday, August 14". when I read by pressing Insert + Down Arrow for Say All, or when reading by pressing Down Arrow to read line by line, JAWS will not say anything when I get to the line with the date in it. If I read word by word by pressing Control + Right Arrow, JAWS will read perfectly. This will also sometimes happen in an email as well. I am using the latest JAWS with Windows 10 and Office 2016. Has anyone else had this happen?
Thanks.

Ah, excellent. I tried this, but insert-f did not report the italics in the dialogue, so I didn't know if it worked.

Hi Kelby,

I just tested this in a Word 2019 document. I opened a find and replace dialog by pressing ctrl + h. I then entered the text to search for in the find what text box. In the replace with text box, I typed the text I wanted, highlighted it, and pressed ctrl + I to make it italic and then executed the replace all button by pressing alt + r. All occurrences of the searched text were replaced with the appropriate text which was italicized.

I need to add italics to a specific text string that occurs a number of times in a WOrd document. WHen I go to the find/replace dialogue in Word, there is a formatting menu, but there is no way to indicate whether you want the formatting to be in the find or replace field. Can one do this accessibly?

I 2000 percent agree with you Gerald. Oh and why do we never ever hear from the owner of this list? Boy I miss Rick's old JFW list. If this behavior continues I'm going, going, gone! Their is a FB JAWS group on FB that I like so if you happen to see me their I'll do my best.

I am confused.  I thought this was a list for the discussion of issues related to the JAWS screen reader, but lately, there have been long discussions about topics that have nothing to do with JAWS like headphones and audio described programming.  Is this list now a general forum for the discussion of any topic related to blindness? Could someone please clarify the purpose of this list?  And if this list is now indeed a general discussion forum, would it not make sense to change the name of the list to reflect this?  Thanks.

So does this one. He’s posted a few times as recently as a week ago.

Keep in mind that not only is the JFW-Users list more tightly moderated, it boasts Eric Damery as a member.

Hi Lino,

Here's a link to JFW-Users on groups.IO

There is a way to subscribe to groups.io lists using the plus sign, but I forget just how to put it, maybe

but if that doesn't work, the first link is to that site where you can join.

HTH.

Where is said list Len? Thanks and reply privately.

There is a strictly managed JFW list that folks can join.

So there's nothing stopping folks from leaving a loosely managed list like this one.

If all lists were the same, there wouldn't be many of them.

That's life, and that's choice.
