It helps to know what you are looking to spend. The options at $50 are a lot different than the $300 options.

I personally use the Bose QC 35 II headphones. I have had them for about 3 years now and use them daily. I would estimate I wear them an average of 8 hours a day including weekends. I use them for work and personal use. They have a Bluetooth option, and I do use it, but most of the time I plug them into my computer or iPad. The battery is supposed to last 20 hours if you’re using Bluetooth and 40 hours if they are plugged into a 3.5 jack and you’re just using noise canceling. The foam began coming out of the ear pieces about a year ago, but I replaced them for about $30.

Interesting, not something I experienced when I used Brave as my default browser for a few weeks, but my primary complaint was that I had to constantly provide login information for certain web pages whereas in Edge and Chrome that would be remembered for a cdertain period of time. One example is the point of sale system we use, Lightspeed Retail, if I log in with Edge or Chrome and close the browser and then click on my shoertcut again within a certain period o ftime like 5 or 10 minutes I would automatically get signed in again. With Brave if I close the browser accidently even if it's for a few seconds I always had to enter my user Id and password again.

Debby,

Two thoughts come to mind. First, it seems highly unlikely that letters in your apartment identifier would throw the website for a loop. It’s quite common. I wonder if upper v. lower case might be the issue. Or a space?

As for red, I agree, you wouldn’t know to look for errors without being notified the website believed you had made errors. However, now that the problem is narrowed to the apartment, you could place focus at the field, without going into forms mode, and press JAWS key+numbers row 5 to find out which colors are on display. Then you could experiment.

What a pain in the neck. Best of luck solving it.

I use thunderbird almost daily for RSS but it is not perfect.

I moved  to Thunderbird after the old RSS Reader from Webbie  no longer worked for increasing numbers of feeds.

Basically you need to set the view option in thunderbird to open in web page rather than summary but even then it often does not initially work.  Neither NVDA nor Jaws will detect content on those unresponsive web pages.

Luckily on those non responsive pages pressing the application key and pressing O for Open in browser will sort those pages out and you can read them in your browser.

It is part of my muscle memory now and not too much of an inconvenience and worth it for the convenience of accessing RSS.

it  is the best accessible option I have found. There were some other suggestions for RSS Readers on the NVDA list but personally I found them completely inaccessible.

I stopped using Outlook as it was taking so long for Outlook to finish loading the RSS Feeds and inhibiting my quicker access for reading emails.

Thunderbird is also a bit laggy on startup in loading all the feeds as well but once loaded I just keep it running in the background.

For anyone who does not wish to go the Outlook route, Thunderbird is an excellent email client and accessible.

For the adventurous and those who already use and like any Chromium-based browser, the Vivaldi browser has just released a version that has an integrated email client (yes, email client, not webmail) as a feature of the browser.  It's almost certain to be accessible given that the whole of Vivaldi is driven by underlying Chromium presentation management code.  Since there are a lot of folks who are using Edge, Chrome, Brave, etc., this would be an experiment worth trying.  And the fact that Vivaldi has a privacy-centric ethos is a bonus.

I have reported it to USPS, and of course they said that they will route the problem to the appropriate department. Their suggestion was that I have my mail carrier bring me a paper form or get one at the post office. Of course that’s ironic because that is what I was trying to avoid. There is a chance that there might be a CAPTCHA on the page, but if it is there, it is well hidden. I will probably have AIRA do it, but if anyone has a solution, I would like to hear it.

I thought that maybe I was making an error on the page, but I have tried it so many time that I can’t imagine that is the issue. I have tried it with NVDA and the USSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSP app   on my iPhone, and no go.

Take care and stay Safe!

I have gotten confirmation buttons to work by turning off virtual mode, Insert+Z, and then navigating to the confirmation button with the tab key and hitting enter on it, again, with virtual mode turned off.

That’s for sure, extremely frustrating for sure. I confess I don’t know how to find the touch cursor, what keystroke is it? Judy & Libby

If these methods don’t work, try turning on the JAWS cursor, locating the button with that cursor, then pressing Jaws key+the PC key. This used to work often, but less so lately.

Then if that fails, try the touch cursor, shift-PC key and locating the button in case pressing enter works.

It crosses my mind that turning off JAWS and going with Narrator might be an option, but I’ve never tried it.

Little is more frustrating than going through an entire form, only for the last button not to work with a screenreader.

Have you tried using a different browser to see if the results are the same?  Also, after pressing spacebar or enter on the confirmation button try pressing, Insert + escape, to refresh / repaint the screen and see if that'll help.  I've found that on many websites the chromium browsers are slow to respond to key commands.

Subject: confirmation button won't work

Hi, all,  I am on a website trying to set up a date and time for a phone interview. I was able to choose the date, and then it gave a list of times available for that date. There is a definite button for each date to choose, but when I enter on the one I want it doesn’t confirm it. I’ve tried actually selecting it and pressing enter and a few other things but nothing works. Any help is appreciated in advance. Using win 10, jaws 2019. Judy & Libby

Brian,

Does Thunderbird have RSS retrieving/reading functions?

Hi,

I'm going back to Microsoft Edge Chromium.

Brave locks up on some sites.

hi just delete the sound card from device manager and reboot the system. If windows can run it with a generic driver and your best bet is the USB audio suggested before for someone else.

I know this is a stretch but, I don’t think I’m on the windows group anymore.  My audio driver does not work.  The explanation is, after the latest windows update, the HP windows 7, upgraded to windows 10, could not handle the new update and the audio driver crashed.  Because of the age, apparently there are no audio drivers available for Win 7 H P computers.  Thus, tying this in with JAWS, no audio driver, no sound from any screen reader.
